With the recent release of Resident Evil 3, Capcom has released the appropriately titled Racoon City Edition. The bundle includes both recent Resident Evil remakes including Resident Evil 2 and the aforementioned Resident Evil 3. With this in mind, it is the perfect time for a retrospective review of Resident Evil 2.

In order of release, Resident Evil 2 is the second game of the series. With that said, the events of both Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 3 actually take place before. In terms of narrative, it is a reimagining of the original Resident Evil 2. With gameplay in mind, it is also something of a prequel to the world-renowned Resident Evil 4.

Upon its release in 2008, Persona 4 took the already aging PlayStation 2 by storm. Engaging gameplay, colorful characters, and a suspenseful narrative resulted in Persona 4 becoming one of the greatest RPGs of all time. The game’s minor imperfections were even later perfected in 2012’s PlayStation Vita port: Persona 4 Golden. After several rereleases of previous titles, Atlus finally released the successor of Persona 4 in 2017. This game was the sixth game of the series, confusingly named Persona 5. While sequentially a successor, Persona 5 was unable to best Persona 4 in overall quality. With the recent release of Persona 5 Royal, Atlus has given the game a second wind.

Ever since the launch of the Nintendo Switch, Arc System Works has released or re-released each of their flagship series to the hybrid system. These series include BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, Under night In-Birth and Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball FighterZ. Now Chaos Code can be added to the list.
