FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday, December 16, 2024 at approximately 3:06 p.m., a Bail Bondsman called 911 for assault in progress. The Bail Bondsman stated a female was unresponsive and a second Bail Bondsman was hit with an axe in the upper body area. Hoke County Sheriff’s Office responded. Detectives and a neighbor were able to assess the scene and assisted EMS due to the suspect barricading himself in the residence. The victims were transported to hospitals for further medical treatment.
Hoke County Sheriff’s Office SERT and State Highway Patrol responded to the location. The suspect was detained without incident and transported to a hospital for medical evaluation.
The female victim identified as Mrs. Linda Hall, who was life-lifted for further medical treatment. Mrs. Linda Hall later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. The next of kin was notified.
The suspect Caleb Jones is charged with Second Degree Murder, Attempted First-Degree Murder and two counts of Assault Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill. Investigation is still on-going at this time.
On December 23rd, 2024, Caleb Jones was served the warrants for attempted first degree murder and two counts of AWDWIKISI at the Hoke County Detention Center. On December 27th, 2024, Caleb Jones was served the warrant for second degree murder. He has a bond of $1,777,500.00. His first appearance was on Friday, December 27th, 2024.
