When I hear the name of a town for the first time, one of the first things I think, especially if I’m going there, is, I wonder what the music scene’s like? If you’re reading the articles on this site, the chances are you’re aware of a fair number of artists and bands who you know deserve to be more widely known than they are. Somehow they’ve slipped through the net of the mainstream media, or sim

ply don’t meet it’s narrow criteria. By foraging around in the grass roots music scene around the world with an approach that is globally local, the intention is that more musicians who deserve to be heard more widely, will be. In turn, the ferret offers listeners a chance to hear music they might otherwise never be aware of. Imagine if you could tune in to the local and regional music scene anywhere in the world. It’s an ambitious goal but the ferret is a tenacious wee beastie who’s going to give it his best shot.
