Battle Brothers:
Started over from scratch at beginner difficulty. No way I should have been playing on Expert on the map I was. It is "easier" in that the combat mechanics are slightly more "forgiving" but I also have more experience with the game. Plus, the map seed is made for trading with multiple ports, a reasonable distance between central towns and cities that are regularly patrolled, and (my favorite) plenty of towns with War Hound kennels. Early game hounds are a life saver, even on Expert Combat difficulty. High initiative, two attacks per round, can cause bleed on unarmored foes, and excellent for pinning foes in place (if timed and placed correctly). Unfortunately, they're AI controlled and if they take down an enemy, it doesn't give any of your crew XP for K. But, with a 12 man team, each with their own hound, boosts it up to a 24 team, if played right. With the Peasant Militia start, one could potentially have 32 units on the field (I do love a Fodder rush).
This playthrough has given me a lot of laughs. My starting mercenaries, Klaus & Werner, have survived. But the real laugh is Ffelwddur, spent a fair bit coin on him as a first recruit. He's my standard bearer and now Sergeant. But his secondary weapon is a broken lute and he's painfully clumsy.
Just saying....
