Were you aware that the number one cause of house fires is due to unattended cooking? I personally did not know, but I strive to learn more about home safety to help protect my family.
It was natural for us to have smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms around the house, but we have decided to include the First Alert rechargeable Home Fire Extinguisher as well.
It’s not only important to have one, especially in the kitchen, but to know how to use it as well in case of a fire emergency. A simple way we learned was to remember P.A.S.S. which means:
Pull the pin on the extinguisher
Aim the nozzle low toward the base of the fire
Squeeze the trigger
Sweep the nozzle from side-to-side
While you are at it, make sure to gather your family members and speak on the importance of fire safety measures and what protection you have placed in your home.
