Sa paglusong sa riles ng tren, sa pagtutok ng kamera sa bawat pagtulak ng trolley, at sa bawat kwento na inilalahad ng isang simpleng mamamayan, isang napakalalim na mensahe ang inilalarawan ng dokyumentaryong pinamagatang “Larangang Kupas.”

Dito ay binuksan ng mga estudyanteng mamahayag ang pintuan patungo sa buhay ni Joel, isang magtro-trolley na hindi lamang tagapaghatid ng pasahero mula dito patungo doon, kundi isang indibidwal na may sariling kwento at laban sa harap ng mga hamon ng buhay.

Ang dokyumentaryong ito ay ‘di lamang tungkol sa buhay ni Joel. Ito ay isang salamin sa realidad ng maraming Pilipino na nagpapakahirap sa araw-araw na buhay. Sa bawat padyak ni Joel sa riles, sa bawat pagpapakita niya ng tapang at determinasyon, tinutulungan niya tayong lahat na maunawaan ang hirap at sakripisyo na ginagawa ng ilan upang mabuhay.

Sa gitna ng modernisasyon at teknolohiya, minsan ay nalilimutan natin ang mga taong nasa likod ng mga pangkaraniwang gawain. Sa paglipas ng panahon, maaaring maging bato na lamang sa daan ang kanilang mga kuwento, ngunit sa dokyumentaryong ito, ang kanilang mga tinig ay mananatili at ating maririnig upang ipaalam na sila ay hindi lamang mga bilanggo ng kahirapan, kundi mga mandirigma na lumalaban para sa kanilang kinabukasan.

This newspaper aims to give you the academic year's highlights across all of the school activities, to raise awareness about different issues, to impart knowledge on certain topics, and most especially to be the voice of the Garcians.

𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬| 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫

The Garcian Press toured and received brief training at PhilStar in Sucat, Parañaque, on Saturday, February 24.

The tour started with Mr. Jhomar Valdez giving a lecture about the importance of having a newspaper and reading one. He also provided an overview of how newspapers are produced.

The entire tour provided students with a glimpse of the intricate process of newspaper production—from gathering information, proofreading, and editing (not just once, but multiple times until it is polished, free of errors, and verified); to story conferences where decisions were made about which stories would go on the front page and which ones would not be included in the lineup; up to the printing and distribution of the newspaper throughout the Philippines.

Moreover, the importance of journalism and the basics of writing an article were briefly discussed during the tour.

"𝘕𝘢𝘨-𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘬𝘰, 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘢𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘨𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢 𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳," said Mark Daniel Abulencia, one of the campus journalists.

(I enjoyed it, and I learned a lot from creating news stories to the process of newspaper printing.)

A former journalist of Carlos P. Garcia HS, Argie C. Aguja, now a feature writer for The Philippine Star, shared advice with CJs who will be competing in the upcoming DSPC and provided tips on overcoming writer's block.

The purpose of the tour is not only to expose our students to the inner workings of a prominent newspaper company but also to provide them with an exclusive opportunity to meet and interact with the esteemed writers of The Philippine Star. This engagement offered insights into the field of journalism, allowing the students to gain firsthand knowledge from professionals who have excelled in the industry.

𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐚: 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

A two-day camp filled with exciting and game-based activities was hosted by the Mathematics Department on February 3-4, 2024.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐎𝐍𝐄
The camp kicked off early on the first day, welcoming participants from Grade 7, Grade 8, and Grade 11 students.

Upon registration, students were assigned a color representing their designated team.

Each color corresponded to specific stations, and at each station, a game awaited, challenging participants to unlock the next station.

Once each group successfully completed every station, the participants were rewarded with refreshing juice and delicious cupcakes, providing a well-deserved break.

To conclude the first day, students were handed MATHO (BINGO) cards, injecting an extra dose of energy into the atmosphere due to the intensity of the game.

The day concluded with a cleanup session in preparation for the Second Day of the Camp.

𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐖𝐎
The second day of the camp welcomed participants from Grade 9, Grade 10, and Grade 12 students.

In response to the high demand for more activities from participants, the Mathematics Team expanded the variety of colors and stations.

The event unfolded similarly to the previous day, with each student receiving a color and station to unlock the next step, culminating in another exciting round of MATHO (BINGO).

In addition to the second day of the event, there was a pageant for Mr. and Mrs. Mathematics and Ms. Ikatlong Lahi (LGBTQ).

To close the event, students were given a final task to clean up the grounds.

The two-day math camp truly succeeded in making math enjoyable, bringing joy and valuable learning experiences to all the students who attended.

Carlos P. Garcia High School kicked off its Mathematics Month celebration with this year's theme, "Numerical Fluency: Empowering Resilient Leaders Through Mathematical Mastery," on Jan. 5.

While waiting for the mass to begin, the emcees, Mr. Mark Anthony Resuello and Ms. Herynadel Advincula conducted a quiz game for the students.

Afterward, the First Friday Mass commenced, led by Rev. Fr. Andy Ortega Lim of Sto. Niño de Pandacan Parish.

To start the second part of the program, Ms. Rica Austria led a nationalistic song, followed by opening remarks from Mathematics Head Teacher Dr. Benjie C. Osita. Then, Sir Diosdado DG. Florendo, the school principal, shared his inspirational message.

Selected students from Grade 10 performed a song to keep the audience engaged.

Following this, Mrs. Danica Andes Samson presented the list of activities for Math Month:

𝐂𝐏𝐆𝐇𝐒 𝐖𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐔𝐩 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑

Carlos P. Garcia High School celebrated the culmination of English Month 2023 with the theme "Nurturing Resilient Global Learners in the Changing Artificial World" on December 12, 2023. The celebration featured the announcement of contest winners and the much-anticipated Parade of Book Characters.

The event commenced with the singing of the nationalistic song "Pilipinas Kong Mahal," conducted by Mrs. Marichu B. Tabuniag. Following this patriotic anthem, Mrs. Imelda P. Genovate delivered the opening prayer, invoking blessings and guidance for the ceremony.

Taking the stage, Ms. Kristine T. Ballesterol, Head Teacher III of the English Department, delivered the opening remarks, expressing gratitude to those behind the celebration's success and setting the tone for the rest of the event.

The highlight of the celebration unfolded as participants from grade levels 7, 9, and 10 showcased their captivating costumes in the Parade of Book Characters. Strutting in creative attire, participants introduced their characters, incorporating unexpected, improvised scenes and ad-libs that not only expressed their characters but also entertained the audience.

While waiting the announcement of the Parade of Book Characters winners, intermission numbers injected energy into the atmosphere. Dazzling performances by the first-place winners of the month-long English celebration, including Jhon Jhezlie G. Gabiola (Storytelling), Ken V. Sanchez (Declamation), March Fe Ramirez (Declamation/Oration), Jella Buscado (Oration), and Grade 9 Del Pilar (Speech Choir), left a lasting impression on the audience.

As the program approached its conclusion, the awarding of contest winners began. Mr. Diosdado D.G. Florendo, Ms. Kristine Ballesterol, and the English teachers assigned to each contest presented the awards to the winners.

The highly anticipated announcement of the Parade of Book Characters winners revealed Rhome Ocampo as the victor in the Most Economical category, Charlize Vada Idalo for the Most Dramatic Performance, Alfonso Allanza earning the title of Most Charming Character, and Vienna Tanasha Viernes securing the spot for the Best Book Character Costume.

The audience erupted in applause as students from various grade levels received their well-deserved recognition.

Just before the program ended, the esteemed school principal, Sir Diosdado DG. Florendo, shared insightful words resonating with the Garcian community. Following this, Mrs. Cristy B. Bonon, the overall chairman of the English Month 2023 celebration, delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to those who contributed to the event's success.

Indeed, the triumph of this event is a testament to the sustained efforts, tremendous support, and valuable contributions from everyone involved, truly turning it into a celebration of success and unity.
