It became clear to investigators that Marc Dutroux is guilty of much more than the abductions and assaults of Sabine and Laetitia, and bodies are soon discovered at two more of his properties. Dutroux claims that he is part of a human trafficking ring, which begins to sound less ridiculous the more that is uncovered.

After a string of seemingly unrelated disappearances of women and girls in Belgium, police narrow in on convicted ra**st Marc Dutroux for one of the disappearances, only to discover that the others may also be related, with some speculating that a larger cover-up could be at work.

Police were able to identify six of the victims on Joseph Naso's list. However, here are the four women and locations that police have yet to publicly identify. Each probably represents a murdered victim and a family without closure. If you believe you have any information on any potential victims, please do not reply publicly. The Murder Squad podcast has some excellent resources for examining the case further or reporting leads. Joseph Naso on death row in 2013 and an image from around when his victims were killed. Given that there is currently moratorium on carrying out ex*****ons in the state of California and also the fact that Joseph is currently 86-years-old, it seems very unlikely that the state will ever be able to carry out that sentence, though Naso will certainly die in prison.
Judge Andrew Sweet didn't mince words when sentencing Joseph Naso to death for the murders of four women and the suspected murders of at least two more. He also called Naso an "evil and disturbed man" who inflicted "repugnant levels of suffering and cruelty." Listen to Episode 14 to hear the whole case.
These are the four women that Joseph Naso was formally charged with murdering, all with the same initial for their first name as their last. Clockwise from the top left: Pamela Parsons, Tracy Tafoya, Carmen Colon (she had the same exact name as one of the girls killed during the Alphabet Killings in Rochester, covered in Episode 12) and Roxene Roggasch. Soon they realize that Naso is more than just a petty thief and come to believe that they are dealing with a dangerous predator and possible serial murderer.

Here is the damage to Southwest Airlines Flight 1380, which resulted from invisible cracks to a fan-blade and cowling that broke apart mid-flight. The shrapnel broke one of the windows and created a hole in the cabin while the plane was traveling at an altitude of 32,000 feet, killing passenger Jennifer Riordan soon afterward from blunt force trauma. The other 148 lives on board were now in the hands of Captain Tammie Jo Shults and First Officer Darren Ellisor. Tune into Episode 13 now to hear more!

So it looks like the will be taking a plea deal for life in prison to avoid the death penalty. This is one case that, I’m sure like many in the true crime community, I really started to learn about in the months leading up to DeAngelo’s arrest. Seeing it solved in real time was exhilarating and so gratifying. No sentence could ever make up for what he took and I’m glad he’ll have to admit guilt on even crimes he wasn’t formally charged with. I just hope the victims / families were consulted and that it brings them peace.
