Today we celebrate one of the original pastor's spouses!

Today, on the fourth Sunday of Advent, we commemorate Katharina von Bora Luther. Martin Luther’s wife, Katie, was a gifted household manager, an expert beer maker and a trusted partner in ministry.

I love it when the very point of a classic meme can be turned on it's head for a completely different meaning.

It matters not whether you approve or disapprove...
Our Beloved One walks among us and is...
Our Neighbor. Love your neighbor... LOVE!!

We find this amusing. :)

Not to be that guy, and most of this is totally not a big deal, but I just wanted to take a moment to communicate my disappointment with a few things I’ve noticed occurring at the Church lately.

We've all been there.

A Prayer Answered

Today is All Saints Day. We remember those who have gone before us in the faith. For whom do you give thanks? We invite you to name them in the comments in thanksgiving for their witness.

A Prayer as I put on my mask

Creator,
as I prepare to go into the world,
help me to see the sacrament
in the wearing of this cloth—
let it be "an outward sign
of an inward grace"—
a tangible and visible way of living
love for my neighbors,
as I love myself.
Christ,
since my lips will be covered,
uncover my heart,
that people would see my smile
in the crinkles around my eyes.
Since my voice may be muffled,
help me to speak clearly,
not only with my words,
but with my actions.
Holy Spirit,
As the elastic touches my ears,
remind me to listen carefully—
and full of care—
to all those I meet.
May this simple piece of cloth be
shield and banner,
and each breath that it holds,
be filled with your love.
In your Name and
in that love,
I pray.
Amen
— Rev. Dr. Richard Bott, Moderator of the United Church of Canada

We recorded today! We had an amazing chat about the world of double clergy spouses. Some of our favorite conversations are when we get to have guests on the podcast. One of our guests, Pastor Jessica, recommended a book that will be coming out in the next month: "Embodied: Clergy Women and the Solidarity of a Mothering God" by Lee Ann M. Pomrenke. It's available for pre-order and sounds AMAZING! Thanks to Pastor Jessica, Pastor Nathaniel, and Vicar Tricia for joining us today. We really enjoyed your thoughts and insights! We hope to get this episode out to you all sooner rather than later. :) Thanks for listening, everyone!

For women raising children while leading in ministry, life is a deep set of particular blessings intertwined with challenges. The book is for clergy who are also mothers, with powerful encouragement to share the teeth-gritting beauty of this tension with those who can support us. Stories worthy of ....
