Our sister-from-another-mxster press, Stacked Deck Press is running a campaign to fund their new book A GOOD SPORT by Soizick Jaffre. If you already backed Ed Firth's book with us and are just hungry for more q***r stories, check this one out.

NEW REWARDS!

We're a little less than halfway to our funding goal, with less than half the campaign time remaining. Even we can do the math on that (and we went to art school.)

We've just added some new limited edition and totally unique rewards to our Kickstarter campaign to publish Ed Firth's acclaimed graphic novel in the U.S. and introduce it to a new audience, but we need your help to do it!

Please back the project and help spread the word. It's very hard to reach readers with important work like this that deals with s*xuality in a frank way. Anything you can do to pitch in would be so welcomed.

A slightly modest-ified preview of Ed Firth's "Chillout", in H***Y & HIGH, VOL I, that I'm currently Kickstarting to bring to U.S. and Canadian readers. (Let's see if Facebook freaks out about it. :-/ )

I’m really excited to be releasing Edmund’s series “H***y & High” in the U.S.. starting with Volume I. We’re doing the presale thing starting today on Kickstarter and I’m super jazzed about it. It’s an amazing series that paints a vivid portrait of s*x and drug culture that feels fresh and alive and foreboding. It’s speaking with a frankness that appeals to me on a deep level, and I’m so glad to help expose the series to more readers.

There’s been increasing downward pressure on adult material in comics lately. Great companies like Class Comics have been struggling with having their payment processors drop them and making it near impossible for them to do business at all. The big online stores for comics are increasingly rejecting any adult books outright, and making it harder to reach readers with this material. Now that ComiXology has been fully integrated into Amazon, the future for distributing adult-oriented books through them looks less possible, too.

Why does it matter?

It matters because there are a lot of people out there, especially q***r folks, who will never get any information about s*x—at least the s*x they themselves are going to be having—as they’re growing up. They are not learning how to integrate s*x into their lives healthily and they are not getting unvarnished advice about what to be careful about, beyond perfunctory STI and HIV warnings. They are getting basic info about how to survive, but not about how to thrive as a complete s*xual being.

I came out relatively early for my generation, and immersed myself in the community and I still find myself struggling against bad ideas drummed into me when I was younger.

I want younger adults today to be able to see s*x as a normal part of their lives, with rewards and dangers and complexities that they don’t have to just stumble into. I want them to learn from their peers through open talk about s*x. I want the movies and video and books they take in to give them what they probably didn’t get from their family and spare them a lot of grief later on.

So check out the book today if you can! (I’ll get a link posted in the comments.) Share it around your corners of the internet. Talk about why it’s important to *you* that adult material not be stifled and stigmatized. It’s the only way these voices are going to be heard. ❤️

I’m going to be at Pride in Panels: SF Q***r Comics Fest today and Ed will be there too! Come by and say hi, and check out the book!

Growing up in the Bible Belt of the 1980s as a creative, colorful, and sensitive young boy is hard enough, but it's especially hard for River. His hot-tempered father, Mitch Garrison, fights constantly with his wife Rosemary and resents his son's softer side. As River and his sisters come of age, th...
