He has Juvenile Macular Degeneration, which is a visual impairment. GLENELG TO GOOLWA 2023

After having some time to process and recover from the whole day we think it’s time to give you a summary of the Glenelg to Goolwa last Sunday. What a day it was with the boys meeting at Glenelg at 5:30am to kick off at 6 and begin the journey. They held a steady pace all day with all safety and support vehicles doing an excellent job to alert all passing traffic. The route included some crazy hills but that didn’t stop the boys from pushing on and finishing a couple hours before expected finish time. They got some great views on the way and had many family and friends alongside to support them including the big turnout at the finish at the Goolwa Surf Club.

We would like to thank all helpers on the day who helped with traffic coordination, driving our support vehicles, supplied us with food and water, and even just came along for the ride and cheered us on. We would also like to thank our sponsors Yerbi Energy Sports Centre and of course Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation who we did this for.

We ended up raising over $8.5k and counting and this couldn’t have happened without all the runners as named below.

GLENELG TO GOOLWA RAISING MONEY FOR BREAKTHROUGH

Shouting Around is proud to present it’s first event for 2023 the Glenelg to Goolwa with all funds raised going to Breakthrough the Men’s Mental Health Research Foundation.

Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to tackling mental health head on. As Australia’s only dedicated mental health research foundation, they exist to support ground breaking research that will help to transform the lives of those affected by mental health issues.

We chose to support this foundation as we both have family members who work in this space on a day to day basis. We hear all too much about the experiences and travesties that occur and want to now do our part in helping those we can.

For the event 16 runners will run a total of 92 km across 4 teams in 5km intervals from Moseley Square, Glenelg to the Goolwa Surf Life Saving Club. The path takes us along the coast past Hallet Cove and to Sellicks Beach. From there, we then head inland to Myponga where we head directly across to Port Elliot. The final straight then sees us finish at Goolwa for a much needed jump in the ocean.

We ask for any support or donation possible to help this great cause. We would also appreciate spreading the word to help us gain exposure and only help increase the money raised. Link below to donate now!
