Home Alone!

on a rainy day like today, I could think of a better way to pass the time then to work with a set up that I’ve been thinking of for a little while. Here’s the results with the set up in the last picture.

When your outside starts to look like how you feel inside…

There’s something magical about discovering new things about yourself at my age. I’m not stuck in my ways and I’m always open to trying things outside of my comfort zone.

People ask me what my secret is to looking young. I tell them simply to laugh a lot and try new things!

Sometime you have to crack a few eggs!

Taking shots like these are more technical than most people would imagine. For me it’s a passion so I don’t mind if it takes a while to set up the shot. I start with a vision in my head and I use the tools and knowledge available to me to make it happen. It this case, I’ve been house bound for a number of different reasons. I don’t have a model available when I need one so I guess I’m going to have to get better a being on the other side of the lens!

It’s always good to scrutinize what your mind uses to fill in the blanks.

I’ve gone beyond editing to correct an image to shooting an image I know that I may completely change later.

In the picture above it was more than simply changing the background… it was about changing the space altogether.

every opportunity I get to shoot, I try to share my knowledge with those who are interested in leveling up. I’m always a work in progress and I am thankful for those who have helped teach me to get better.

Not hiding anymore!

In 2021 I really started embracing photography and videography as a creative art when COVID affected my music production. It was a way to be creative but still socially distance. Since then I have been behind the lens working on my own self image.
I started working out, eating better, and focusing on the path God has me on.
Since then, I have met so many beautiful like minded people on a path of growth and self discovery.

I felt like it was important at to show up as my best self if I was going to be any good.

I don’t know where this path is going to end up but I do know one thing for sure.

If I want to see something different it’s going to have to start with how I see myself with the support of my loving wife and friends.

This is me…

In the last few weeks of my mini-cut for my 55th Birthday I’ve decided to take a page out of the playbook. He’s always wearing an oversized t-shirt. At first I tried it to hide my progress but I found an added benefit. I’m really pleased with the progress that I’m making and sometime it gets my hyper focused on my current physical situation.

I’ve found that by covering up I focus less on my appearance (especially my shortcomings) and I focus more on form and the process. For the most part I don’t even know what I look like when I’m all pumped up. I get the opportunity to surprise myself sometimes when I walk past the bedroom mirror and see new developments.

Through the process of covering up I’m learning to love the journey instead of dreaming about the destination.

Who knows what I’m going to look like in the end. I’m going to love every bit of working to get there!

FOOD PREP!

I’m so thankful for my wife for helping me get ready for the week. Honestly there’s been a few times when she just did it all for me!

Right here are 4 of the 6 meals I’ll eat a day while I’m at work.

This weeks meals are

Breakfast: Egg Bake

Mid morning Snack: Rice Cakes, Eggs, and an Apple

Lunch: Chicken Adobo with Rice and Green Beans

Afternoon Snack: Turkey Chil without Beans

All of this get done on Sunday Afternoon so I won’t have to think about what I’m going to be eating throughout the week. We keep the meals the same for the whole week so that tracking is easy.

When I get home it’s a protein oatmeal with dates for pre workout then a light dinner with ample carbs for the next day.

It might seem like a lot of work but I’m eating for a purpose these days. It helps that all of these meals taste great!

Congratulations to Austin and Cierra James!

It has been a day of big emotions as my wife and I gave our daughter to to be wed in holy matrimony.
I love the reminder of the vows I exchanged with over 19 years ago.
Funny how time moves forward and allows us to evolve and stay grounded at the same time. I’m thankful for God’s live in our lives.
