So, we've been mulling things over and we wanted to run some stuff past you, our honoured lovely listeners, our campfire custodians, our trash-panda darlings, and the friends of Earl.
We've been making Frithcast for Insert Number Of Episodes Here but it's a fair few anyway. We've always maintained our reliably low level of production values and professionalism, and have never in all this time so much as invested in proper microphones with pop shields or any of that highbrow recording tomfoolery, what do you think this is, the BBC?
We have every intention of carrying on recording and posting this nonsense as long as you glorious weirdos want to listen to it; but we do have some things we need to acknowledge.
Our circumstances now are quite different from when we started. Our jobs now occupy most of our week, with early starts and quite late finishes every weekday. One of us works occasional evenings which take out even more of our available time per week, and our commutes are fairly onerous. We are, to put it bluntly, a bit knackered.
We therefore wanted to ask you, the aforementioned lovely listeners, how you would feel were we to switch our release schedule from a 30-40-minute episode every two weeks, to something more hour-ish-long every four weeks. We know from the streaming figures that there tends to be a catch-up period between release and listen for a lot of you, so would it actually be more convenient for you if we did it that way?
We're also hoping it would give us chance to spend a little more time on each episode where at the moment, especially in the last six months or so, we've found we're not really getting chance to put as much into each as we'd like. And also we're quite tired.
So, what do you think? Would a slower release rate but longer episodes be acceptable to you? After all, you are what makes this whole thing worthwhile and we'd like to keep on rambling nonsense at you, and this feels like a good way to do that.
If, on the other hand, you've any other suggestions you'd like to fling at us please do: we're open to other ideas too. Y'all seem to know what you're talking about on stuff, at that.
