Griffon Riders of Dun Thale | Dwarven Outpost [120 x 90]

Welcome to the Dwarven Outpost of Dun Thale, home of the Thalian Griffon Riders, a small detachment of specialized dwarven cavalry that train and work from griffon-back. I've included a concept image by Manon Krapf to help set the scene!

The outpost exists within the small cap of a mountain range, neighboring an icy lake and a sheer dropoff to the east, allowing for the riders to easily launch and return from one of the [2] circular towers known as Rooks.

Many different chambers exist within the outpost, including:

[1] - The Great Hall, which contains seating for all dwarves of the outpost, and then some for guests.

[2] - Private Quarters for the Outpost Commander, Griffon Rider Captain, Master Smith, Master Artificer, Griffon Trainers and Advisor for the outpost.

[3] - Griffon Pens and Lift for caring for, maintaining and preparing the Griffons for travel and combat.

[4] - Griffon Rider Barracks, which can sleep up to [40] riders and/or other outpost guards, many of whom take on duties for cooking, cleaning and maintaining the outpost.

[5] - Forge, where the Master Smith toils away forging the Skylances, wind hammers and other weapons and armor for the riders.

[6] - Council Chamber & War Room for private meetings with the Outpost Commander and special guests, diplomats and officers.

[7] - Small Library, where the Advisor frequently works to author messages to be sent to dignitaries and other Kingdoms.

[8] - Deep Shaft Elevator, which can be operated from the library and controls a lift descending deeper into the mountain, where it connects to the Deep Roads and, ultimately, other mountain dwarf settlements, as well as the Underdark.

So, how I can use this location?

Travel Location - if the party needs to fly somewhere difficult to reach by land, or more quickly than they could reach by land or sea, this location would be a great place for the party to visit. Coming here may require making some contacts, making a payment or providing some kind of the service to the dwarves here.

Player Rescue - sometimes the party bites off more than it can chew and you need an out. Perhaps they could be found and rescued by a patrol of griffon riders and returned to the outpost to be treated and healed.

Dwarven Background Story - one of your players may want to have their character come from this location, or have a contact located here they could visit to request a service.

Underdark Access - The Deep Shaft Elevator allows travel to and from the Underdark, which would let players coming from the Underdark arrive at this location, should you wish, or allow players that can get to this location to make their way down, if that is where the campaign is taking them.

Next on the artwork horizon is the Dwarven King of Tyr-Durenn, a dwarven Kingdom who selects their ruler based on the family that submitted the most wondrous work of dwarven craftsmanship.

After ruling for the last 70 years, however, the King has slowly become more and more paranoid that his siblings wish to see him supplanted, and plans to take measures against that.

I enjoy all three of these versions, but have my own personal favorite!

The Map Pack contains a few variants & comes with layered maps for each building level + PNG tokens for the individual buildings (pictured above), allowing you layer several maps atop each other, or utilize the PNG tokens.

âš” For those NOT running that adventure, this would make a great potential location in your homebrew for White Dragon Lairs, Frost Giants, dangerous ports or exciting locations to visit for quests and/or general travel.

🧊 Tier 3+ Patrons will get additional variants: Ice over buildings, No Ice over buildings and No Boats. Additionally, Tier 3 will get PNG tokens for docked and sailing versions of the boats pictured in the maps, in case you want to have any naval adventures and/or the party wants to try and escape in one of the available boats.

Halfling Village of Brill [112 x 80]

📍 Welcome to the [Updated] Halfling Village of Brill! 🗺️ I'm thrilled to unveil a new version of one of my earliest maps, now revamped with the more modern conventions of lighting, shading, coloring & asset choices. 🛡✨ This will not only make it mesh better with more recent maps, but, hopefully, give you and your players a much more immersive environment for your gameplay!

👋 Halfling Village of Brill, located along the Willowik River and part of a larger farming community that works fields to the south and northeast. 🚜 The Halflings of Brill are largely farmers, though a few of them hold other professions necessary to the community. The culture within Brill has much to do with land – how much you work, how much you own and what you produce. The size (and general appearance, upkeep and such) of one’s yard is a source of great pride, with many of the Halflings with the largest yards considered to be the wealthiest and most esteemed.
They’re also considered to be the most vain and proud of the bunch ....Check out (https://www.patreon.com/posts/halfing-village-87032605o) for more

âš” ToV | Caverns of the Spore Lord Map Pack! âš”

It was exciting to see the first battlemap based on the module Caverns of the Spore Lord, from Kobold Press's newly released TTRPG, Tales of the Valiant; and I had several Patrons interested in seeing a version crafted for the VTT experience.

Premise :

The people of Hulgig are desperate. The hamlet’s tainted well water is transforming the residents into sporeborn. To make matters worse, the transmogrified villagers are drawn to the nearby cave complex that leads to the subterranean village of Bellgrove, and its mycolid inhabitants are having their own problems.

This map depicts the subterranean village of Bellgrove and its many components. It would also make a great subterranean map for a homebrew campaign, if you don't want to use the hook with the surface village.

I will be interested to see what kind of content comes out of Tales of the Valiant and thought it would be fun to create some content after their module better suited to VTT and possibly print.

I hope you guys enjoy it, especially if you've backed Tales of the Valiant or plan to give the system a try sometime.

-

You can find a free version of the map on the Patreon post, so anyone can make use of it that may also have purchased the module.

-

The Caverns of the Spore Lord module is available for free if you kickstarted ToV. If not & you would like to obtain the rest of the small one-shot upon which this map is based on, the module is available at Kobold Press for $5.

River Barge | 3 Levels & Dock Map [40 x 58]

This large, flat-bottomed vessel is intended to traverse the many riverways of your game world, hauling goods and providing accommodations for travelers headed between river-based destinations.

I've included a dock map, as well as transparent PNG tiles of the [3] levels of the ship:

The Main Deck contains a large cargo area near the bow, with a small wooden crane for moving heavy goods off and on deck. Two stairways descend into the lower level, while a single-story cabin perches atop a raised platform in the center of the ship and works its way toward the aft.

The Lower Deck contains crew quarters, a small brig, privy and guard quarters, as well as several rowing stations, additional storage and living space for both crew and visitors traveling on the barge.

The Cabins contain several individual rooms with a capacity of about [12] people, as well as a common area with attached kitchen, bath and privy.

This vessel would be a great headquarters for part of the campaign, as the PC's make their way from port to port, or as an encounter, where PC's are attacked en route to someriver-accessible destination.

The River Barge would also be a good set piece for pirates, or a river-based BBEG that the PC's need to locate, board and deal with, full of a seedy cast of characters and perhaps someinteresting NPC's traveling with the captain.

I came across an artist on D&D Fantasy Art (Jack Kokoska) many months ago, and I really liked the way she was representing female D&D characters with realistic body types, compared to the typical Size 0, chain mail bikini women you often see in fantasy.

So, I reached out and commissioned her to do a female D&D character for every class in the game, in their style.

After over a year, I finally received the final character and now have all of them assembled. Our plan is to license them to publishers and anyone else that wants to use them in their works and donate the proceeds to charities or organizations that encourage female artists.

Here is a collage of all of the characters. =)

December Voted Map | Prison Discussion!

Patrons have voted for a prison map, so I'm reaching out to them and to all of you following me for your suggestions!

What kind of prison would you guys like to see most? I would like the ultimate map to serve at least [2] purposes, meaning it isn't ONLY a prison, but fulfills some other role within the game world.

Some examples (as pictured above) might be:

1. Mining Prison -- prisoners are kept in wooden buildings or perhaps below ground in cramped stone cells, forced to work the mine by their captors, allowing the location to be used either as a prison, or as a functioning mine resource for the world.

2. Experimental Prison -- prisoners are delivered and kept in cells for a group of wizards operating out of a tower, where they keep the prisoners well fed and attended for their planar, summoning or other experiments.

3. Prison Barge -- prisoners are ferreted back and forth between locations on this prison barge, providing both a mobile prison, as well as a boat to be potentially used in a variety of locations.

Let me know what would be most useful to your world/campaign, or most interesting to potentially run for your players!

Just finished up this map of Selu, the Sapphire Eye Oasis!

This is a massive 240 x 160 village, which means it has over a quarter-mile (width) of space for players to explore and for you to use for social and combat encounters! The village has tons of points of interest, and could be used for a quest hub, place along the way, character background location or even a starting location for a desert-themed campaign.

I hope you enjoy it - come get it now!

Restoring Conyberry (or any village) | Phase 1 [94 x 66]

This is a "Phase 1" map of a Restored Conyberry from Lost Mine of Phandelver, though it could certainly be a village in any homebrew.

I had several people ask if I had a restored Conyberry map, and then also if there was a version where the restoration was only partially completed, so that they could transition their party through that area and show a sequence of change/improvement.

So, to accomplish this, I've introduced the following:

> Restored [3] buildings as family homes.
> Restored [1] building as a blacksmith.
> Restored [1] building as a tavern (2nd level will be the home of its wealthy owner).
> Designed [3] homes to be "under construction"
> Have two plots being cleared for a Stables and a Temple/Church.
> Have [2] homes still in disarray.

My current plan is to have a Phase 2 (construction complete, other buildings beginning construction) and then a Phase 3 (all buildings complete).

With those maps, one can create a handful of game-related narratives:

> Experiencing an evolving/changing world as your party comes to and leaves the same village/location.

> Basing out of the village and spending time/energy seeing it rebuilt, while clearing out the things responsible for sacking it in the first place.

> Perhaps being given control of the village as property and managing it over time, as they clear out surrounding areas, manage resources and hire people, etc...

Let me know, if you have any other ideas for things that could be included in future stages, or this style of approach.

I hope you guys enjoy it!

This is my first attempt at a Phased Battlemap - Flash flood!

The idea is that you have [5] different versions of a given map, where something is changing across each scene. In this case, a flash flood coming down a normally dry river bed in the desert.

Designed mostly with VTT in mind, you can layer these maps in places like Roll20 or used mods in FoundryVTT to be able to quickly and easily switch maps as the phases proceed.

Now available on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/posts/flash-flood-map-68221641) - hope you like it!

Lair of the Black Spider [72 x 72]

I am happy to announce a new battle map, as well as my first adventure module, written for D&D with the Open Gaming License!

I had some folks mention they wanted either a different final showdown with Nezznar, or something leading up to WEC that lent him more depth, purpose and backstory, so I created the following map of a headquarters within a cave system.

The cave system is accessible via an empty well, for which I chose a ruined village (easy choice for Conyberry) to make that region both relevant to the campaign and a reasonably remote place for the lair to exist.

I also wrote an 8-page module (my first one!) for the lair, which would certainly take my group at least a session to run. I decided to write the module in a more generic fashion, so people could use it for any particular campaign/adventure they were running, but the content would fit seamlessly with LMoP's story arc.

I've attached the first page here (you can preview the first [3] on the site), and have a special discount set up for it, if you decided you'd like to save that to surprise your party (especially those that have run it before): https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?discount=9703725167

The module contains [2] maps (in various formats for Roll20 Free/Premium, Foundry, etc...), [5] creature/character tokens and the story/module.

Part 1 of a plan to build out a large section of Neverwinter Wood, a sprawling forest known for its heavy fey presence and potential danger. Each Part will likely feature an adjacent section of wood to expand on this one, slowly creating a massive and cohesive stretch of forest within which to stage encounters and adventures.

Neverwinter Wood - Part 1 [80 x 160] I had someone ask for a map they could use as Neverwinter Wood in an upcoming session, so I decided to put together a multi-part forest that would have some variant options (i.e. night time with glowing fey/wisps), as well as a sprawling forest that had several p...

This is the ruined version of the village of Leilon, from Storm Lord's Wrath, which is much closer to the state when players arrive for the first time. Many things have changed, which you can read about in the description.

Next plan is to create local maps for all of the named locations, so you can drill into those areas for social or combat encounters and immerse your players!

Ruined Town of Leilon [120 x 130] After completing my interpretation of a Restored Leilon, I have completed a Ruined Leilon that is more representative of what players find when they reach the town in Storm Lord'sWrath. The state of the town has changed: 1. Many of the buildings have been damaged. S...
