Kobe was someone who transcended sport. His book The Mamba Mentality influenced my view of the world and my approach. He gave everyone so much and will be missed, a legend.

I always hear about people trying to minimize risk but rarely ever hear about minimizing regret. Which one is more important to you? Everybody dies but not everyone lives. Failure is when you stop reaching for your dreams. 📷 📷 🌊 ❤️ ☁

Race tracks make for some nice views. I miss this one, lots of memories. 📷

09/01/2020

Before the bikes I was heavy into sports cars and karting, even got to try a formula car for a day. When I stopped being broke I stretched and bought a in 2012. It was a good time I liked that car a lot, but once I rode a bike, it turned my brain upside down. The bike is so physical you have to move with the bike. If you haven’t ridden a bike, try it out. Might surprise you.

Riding motorcycles is so addicting. I had a big crash at back in 2015 on my Yamaha R6. My dislocated toe was popped back in and I got a few days of physical therapy but I still didn’t have full mobility in my knees to get back on a sport bike. Brought my commuter to the track instead.

Back to work. Time to put aside everything that can’t be changed and focus on pushing forward.

03/01/2020

Did some grinding on using brakes earlier but less and carrying the speed into the corner. Got in about 3 round trips before the sun started going away. 📷

This will be my last year on the , what people often refer to as a super mid. Sometime in the fall I’m going to move up to a . I’m getting closer to turning 40 and you realize if not now then when? It’ll be a lot of fun as well as a new challenge not that riding a 959 fast isn’t already one. But as long as I’m slowly improving and having fun it’ll be ok. Still deciding whether to be practical with v4 or emotional with a . How about you guys? Anyone else planning to move to a superbike this year? Here’s a pic of bike at last summer too bad won’t be there in 2020. ✊🏻

Throw that leg over to 2020, happy new year!

What would you like to do if money were no object?

19/12/2019

I’m trying out the Microsoft Surface Go to look over the data on my Aim Solo 2 from my day at Adams last week. I’m a little rusty with Race Studio but right away comparing my fastest lap to some others, I can get some insights into what parts of the track I should be thinking about for improvements next time out. Thanks again for the !

13/12/2019

Amazing day yesterday riding with friends at on the ! We made a step forward and will have a youtube video next week probably. ✊🏻

06/12/2019

Riding Alpinestars for 2020 in the Racing Absolute with the Supertech gloves and boots! Once we get a good amount of time riding this kit we’ll do a video comparing the kit versus the kit we’ve had for a few years.

wish i could wheelie like chris!

24/11/2019

I decided I really want to make some big progress on my riding in 2020. This past year was fun just goofing around not really pushing but for a lot of different reasons I’d like to make a big step forward and one of the best ways to do that is to use data. I met Brandon not too long after I first started riding in 2012 and he runs a great business with his partner Mark. I bought this Solo 2 DL from them to get all sorts of data from my Ducati 959 Panigale like throttle position, front and rear brake pressure, RPM, wheel speeds, traction control intervention. I’m going to use it on my motocross and supermoto bikes too. AIM makes a nice handlebar mount for dirt bikes. Check out if you want to get data into your riding program. I’ve used it before I took a break from riding and it helps. I appreciate this stuff even more now that I have some data science experience from studying machine learning with Python and R (geek alert).

Champ School at Inde Motorsports Ranch with Chris Peris and David Bober on my Ducati 959 Panigale

Our friend David Bober is now an instructor at Champ School and was kind enough to invite us out to a private day with Chris Peris at Inde Motorsports Ranch in Wilcox, Arizona. It was certainly the most luxurious track day we’ve ever experienced: very comfortable trackside casitas with patio views, complementary breakfast and lunch cooked right before our eyes, nobody on track but us. We didn’t even have to bring our own gas. There’s only one question: when can we go again!? Thank you David, Chris, Joe, everyone at Inde for incredible memories that will last a lifetime.

It’s been almost a week since we went to Inde and I am in constant withdrawal wishing we were still there riding more. Unfortunately with winter near our season is done and we’ll focus on riding supermoto, motocross, and mountain bike. There’s so much to work on in my riding but for sure the positioning on the bike stands out the most at the moment and how I use the body to work with the bike on the entry and mid corner. This is the first year of riding since I took a long break and I’m so much more grateful for the time I ride, and humbled by how hard it is to ride like I used to. We can only move forward now.
