The answer is yes and let us explain why.

Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic, are without a shadow of a doubt, two of the best heavyweights to have ever stepped foot inside an octagon. Over the years, we have seen many trilogy fights in the MMA World. But, none have been to replicate the hype and hoopla that Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic has. One of the biggest reasons for this has got to be the gap between the fights.

Sometimes, a variety of roadblocks lead two fighters to get paired up after a considerable amount of time. The biggest example of this is the series between Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz. The Huntington Beach Pl***oy and The Iceman were well past their primes by the time their third fight took place. Despite the considerable amount of hype generated due to the fierce rivalry between the duo, the fight ended up being a dud with Ortiz securing an easy victory over the UFC Hall of Famer.

On August 15, Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cornier will collide inside the octagon for the third and in all likelihood the last time. The series between the duo has been one of the highly-contested and talked-about bouts in UFC history. But, with the third and last fight coming up in a month, the question in everyone's mind will most likely be 'is this the biggest legacy fight in UFC history?'.

UFC 252: MIOCIC VS CORMIER 3

UFC 252: Miocic vs. Cormier 3 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that will take place on August 15, 2020 at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.[1]

A UFC Heavyweight Championship trilogy between current two-time champion Stipe Miocic and former champion Daniel Cormier (also former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion) is expected to serve as the event's headliner.[4] The pairing first met at UFC 226 on July 7, 2018, when then light heavyweight champion Cormier knocked out Miocic in the first round to capture the heavyweight title.[5] Their second meeting took place at UFC 241 on August 17, 2019, when Miocic got his revenge via fourth round knockout.[6]

A bantamweight bout between Pedro Munhoz and former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar was briefly linked to UFC 251. However, promotion officials elected to schedule the pairing four days later for UFC on ESPN: Kattar vs. Ige.[7] On July 6, it was announced that the bout between Munhoz and Edgar was scrapped due to Munhoz testing positive for COVID-19.[8] They were later rescheduled for this event.[9]
