Our Employee of the Month for May is Emily Watkins. We appreciate Emily's hard work as an assistant teacher! She is an important part of the Shepherd's flock family. Emily is known for being a loving and caring assistant teacher. She works hard to ensure every child is actively engaged in playtime learning. We appreciate her willingness to pitch in wherever needed and support the Shepherd's flock mission to provide a loving and educational environment for our children. Emily is Awesome!

Parents please watch for Greenwood County school closures. Greenwood County Schools have announced that Thursday March 18, 2021 will be an elearning day and staff and students will not report to school. All in-school activities are canceled due to the storms.

Full Job Description
The Teacher is responsible for developing an enhanced learning environment. They must coordinate Christian faith-based curriculum and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional/spiritual and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children and resolve parental concerns.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.

- Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.

-Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional/spiritual growth.

- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports and parent-teacher conferences.

- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.

- Ensure a healthy classroom environment- including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.

- Supervise classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.

- Maintain accurate records, forms and files.

Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months of professional child care experience.
- High energy
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children and parents) and to foster a team
environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- nfant/child CPR and First Aid certification
- Must clear full background check.
- Must pass health screening.
- The ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or
controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend,
squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to
a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.

Desired candidates shall possess the following qualities:
- Nurturing

- Dependable/punctual
- Proactive
- Strong love of children
- Strong behavior management skills
- Abundance patience and compassion

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $8.00 - $10.00 per hour

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

We are having such a wonderful first week!!! Its been fantastic to have some little faces smiling and the giggles and footsteps in the hallway! We have a few spots left if anyone is still interested in enrollment! Our infant room will open Jan 4th, and we are filling those spots quickly, only 3 are left unsecured! So don’t miss out!
