We can better understand ourselves and others when we are a part of a community. It gives us the chance to gain fresh insights, experience others' empowerment and support, work together to achieve a common objective, and form deep connections.
People may feel more alone and isolated in the absence of community. Building a community and providing the social connection and support needed to have more vulnerable talks are two ways we can improve our mental health.
Being a part of a community or group that we can relate to strengthens our sense of individual and group identity.
1. Support ๐ป๐ฑ
The value of community lies in its ability to provide us with the assurance that we are safe in the company of our peers. Additionally, the advantages are reciprocal, as helping others benefits us in the same way that an accountability partner does.
2. Connection and Belonging ๐
We gain purpose when we have a sense of belonging to something greater. Discovering people who share our beliefs, passions, and worldviews helps us feel appreciated and recognise we're not alone.
3. Gain new friends online and offline. ๐ซ
Meeting new people within the community and engaging with them can potentially make us new friends whether it be online or offline.
4. Inspiration and Influence ๐ฃ
Sometimes, we require a little more encouragement to prevent us from slipping into unhealthy patterns and mindset. We can be inspired to invest in our well-being and make positive changes in our lives by seeing the positive impact of like-minded individuals and being inspired by others.
5. Acceptance and Self Acceptance ๐
Building communal ties with people who hold different opinions might be difficult, but it's also a chance to practice acceptance.
Self-acceptance. Being a part of a community enables us to acknowledge that we are both strong and vulnerable at times, and that we require other people's support to prevent needless emotional hardships and suffering.
6. Sharing ๐ซถ๐ป
Sharing activities, ideas and feelings reinforces not only our sense of self, but also adds worth and value to the community. Sharing also produces higher engagement, positive emotions, and empowerment. As the saying goes, sharing is caring.
7. Learning Opportunities ๐ก๐
Communities are typically formed by people who share common interests, but this does not imply that they are all the same. We can still find individuals inside them who hold different opinions, experiences, or beliefs, and we can gain insights from them that we might not have otherwise.
