The untold secret of the Christian life is that before we can fully surrender our lives to Jesus, we must first be convinced that He genuinely loves us and is worthy of our complete devotion. Without faith and trust, our submission to Christ will be lukewarm and driven by a motive other than love.
It is essential that we become fascinated and infatuated by the Lord. If not, our hearts will be vulnerable to pursue other things. If Jesus has not fully captured your heart yet, it simply means that you have not caught a glimpse of His boundless love and amazing glory.
He says: I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3) For I am compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithful (Psalm 86:15) Keeping my covenant of love to a thousand generations (Deuteronomy 7:9) I know the plans I have for you, my plans are to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11) Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13) But I demonstrate my own love for you in this: while you were still sinners, I died for you (Romans 5:8) See what great love I have lavished on you, that you should be called my children! (1 John 3:1)
This is where our relationship with Christ begins. As we catch a glimpse of His goodness and mercy, it leads us to godly sorry and repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10). Afterwards, the Holy Spirit continually reveals God’s love while increasing the character and nature of God in us from glory to glory. In other words, “we love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

- Is there anyone in this world that has shown you greater love than Jesus Christ?
- What attracted you to Jesus and still compels you to love Him?

What does it take to truly love someone to the point of total surrender? What is required to abandon your life for someone’s sake? Have you ever loved that deeply? If so, how did you get there?
At some point, your eyes saw beauty (inward and outward) and realized that there is nothing in comparison. You are fascinated, captivated, and ultimately obsessed. That’s what happened to the first followers of Christ.
John said, We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14)
And the apostle Paul echoed (2 Corinthians 5:14-15) “For Christ’s love compels us … that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”
That’s how the gospel and the Christian life are meant to work. We are first captivated by the splendor of His majesty. Then, as He unveils his unconditional love, it builds a foundation of trust, faith, and devotion. The only effective response to God’s love is to desire to know Him more intimately. As we gain more revelation of His love, it becomes easier to abandon our will and surrender to His purpose. Eventually, we take on the same nature of our Master.

Evaluate (Examine) Yourself
- What areas of your life are you unwilling to yield to God? (professional, physical, sexual)
- What is holding you from completely surrendering your life to Jesus?

Action (Due Toda)
Write down those areas in your life that you struggle to surrender to God. Pray over them and then shred the piece of paper.

So much of today’s preaching is focused on obeying and surrendering to God. And that’s a good thing! However, you and I cannot properly obey God if we don’t have a revelation of His glory and amazing love. Without it, we will try to obey Him out of duty, guilt, fear or to gain rewards. The result is that we eventually burn out or judge others that love God but don’t follow our specific doctrine. We basically become modern day Pharisees.
But when we truly encounter God’s love, it changes our beliefs, our thoughts, and behavior. The love that compelled us to kneel at the altar is the same love that keeps us there. It’s the sight of God’s glory and the experience of His grace that causes us to forsake everything and follow Jesus. So, open your eyes to see His glory and open your heart to receive His grace. This is how God establishes His kingdom in our hearts and transforms us into the image of His son.
As Paul told the Corinthians – And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
Whatever your situation is, God’s love can change your life, from one degree of glory to another. The splendor of His glory and endless love removes your burden of performing for Him and the frustration of missing the mark. His yoke is easy, His burden is light. It is only God who begins and finishes the work of salvation and transformation.
In the following segments, we will explore the love and glory of God that compels us to love Him, become His apprentice, live in His power, and lead others into discipleship.

Evaluate (Examine) Yourself
- How do you see yourself (physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, etc.)?
- Where is the Holly Spirit currently working in your life?

Action (Due Today)
Write down 3 areas in your life where God made significant changes since you became a believer.

Are humans essentially kind, sensible, good-natured creatures? Or deep down are we wired to be bad, vain, and selfish?
The Bible teaches that human beings were created “very good” by a loving God (Genesis 1:31), but then, the entire human race fell victim to the sin nature. The good news is that when a person truly believes in Christ, he receives a new nature. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” Sanctification is a continuous process with many victories and defeats as the new nature battles with the old man— in other words, the old nature which is the flesh.
Those who have taken on the character of Christ will walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself for us (Ephesians 5:2). Their reflection of Christ’s nature is directly proportional to how much love is evident in their own lives. These “children of light” are not perfect, but their lives are being transformed with a desire to love with all their heart, soul, body, and mind.
Let us look at how Jesus’ disciples demonstrate love in all four elements of their new nature:
A new Heart – Their will is fixated on pleasing the Lord. They don’t hesitate to do what they know to be right and have nothing to do with darkness. They are filled with the Spirit and will always be in perfect harmony with God’s purpose. These are people who don’t care about getting their own way but “regard others as more important than themselves” (Phil 2:3-4)
A New Mind – God is always on their mind. They delight in God’s love, mercy, peace, power, and His promises. They are always positive based on the knowledge and understanding of God’s nature. Evil is not something they dwell on, because they know God won the war and battles are not fought against flesh and blood. Their emotional life is deeply rooted in love and the joy of the Lord provides enough strength to overcome any obstacle.
A New Body – The weakness of the flesh (expressed in Matthew 26:41) no longer applies to them. They know by experience that the Spirit has taken over their “members”. Their body is reprogrammed to serve God and instinctively they are able to avoid the paths of temptation.
A New Soul – They are prepared and capable of responding to the situations of life in ways that are good and righteous. Their soul is properly ordered under God and in harmony with reality. They don’t make plans based on human understanding or “in the counsel of the wicked”. They delight in God’s law, are thrilled by it, and understand its purpose. The result is an abundant life that bears much fruit.
God is calling for you and I to be among a remnant of people who seek Him with all their heart and are changed into soldiers of God’s kingdom with a divine purpose – to turn this world upside down through God’s love. It has been done before (Acts 17:6). Why not again!

Love Unites Us All (Changing Your Life - Ep. 5)
The Christian church in America is divided over everything from theological views to issues like politics, economics, morality, and social justice. This is in complete contrast to the will of God for his body. Now, more than ever, is the time for the church to lead America towards unity and reconciliation. As stated in Ephesians 4:3, we should be “Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace”
God's Love is the perfect bond of union, not only between God and us, but also between ourselves. The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part. If one part hurts, every other part hurts. If one part flourishes, every other part rejoices (1 Corinthians 12). The Master has carefully placed each part of the body right where it needs to be to accomplish His purpose. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is. We used to call our own shots, but then we entered into a large and integrated community in which God has the final say. This makes us more productive and effective in serving His kingdom.

Evaluate (Examine) Yourself

- Has politics caused division in your life?
- How much do you focus on building up the believers you know in God’s kingdom?

Action (Due Today)

Read 2 Timothy 2:4 and write (on the right) those things in this world that entangle you from being a good soldier and loving others.

Romantic movies and love songs suggest that we have found love when we find someone who makes us feel special, brightens our day, and conforms to our lifestyle. This worldview of love is conditional and centered on what my partner does to again make me feel special, brightens my day, and conforms to my lifestyle. In other words, makes me feel happy. The only compromise between two individuals that serve their own interest is, “If you meet my needs then I’ll meet yours.” “I made dinner, so you must do the dishes.” “I worked ten hours today, so you must clean the house.” “I was the last one to say, I love you, now it’s your turn.” The game often ends with one player saying, “It’s my way or the highway.” And there is no real winner.
Sin is at the root of secular love. It deceives us into thinking that the void in one’s life can be filled by oneself or by receiving love from another human being. This is not love. It puts pressure on another person to meet our needs. When they fail, we experience pain. We may label this pain as communication issues, different agendas, or conflicting goals, but those issues are merely symptoms of a greater issue. Sin has made us self-centered and hindered our ability to cry out to receive true and healing love from God.
God gives a clear description of love in the scriptures. Consider these two powerful verses in comparison to our world’s conditional love:
“I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!” (Romans 8:38-39)
And 1 John 4:10-11
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
So, now, let’s internalize this principle by using the MYLEAP guide (on the next page). And don’t forget to share your thoughts and experience with friends that have joined us on this journey by subscribing to our Facebook Group (Changing Your Life Group) and our YouTube Channel “MYLEAP Guide”.

Most people hope to ‘fall in love’ and often use that feeling (of love) to decide the length of their relationship. But can love be defined by a feeling? Feelings come and go – depending on conditions, events, and moods. Love is so much more than that. Real love is a choice. It’s an act of the will. It enables us to accept our differences within relationships and to choose to love the person despite the circumstances. The truth is, people and events don’t cause our reactions, they just reveal our inner condition.
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul argues that love is an action, not an emotion. From the beginning of this passage, love is described by action words, not with contemporary concepts like “love at first sight” or “self-love is the greatest love of all”. Paul is not writing about how love feels, he is writing about how it can be seen, experienced, and demonstrated in action.
John echoes Paul’s views in 1 John 3:18, “let’s not merely say that we love each other, let us show the truth in actions.” This is contrary to our modern definition of love which honors people or things that arouse good emotions. For example, we love our partner and we also love football, we love pizza, we love shopping. But in the biblical definition of agape love, there is action. Feelings may come later.
Jesus’ death on the cross is the essence and manifestation of God’s kind of love. The Bible says that “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, in other words, God’s enemy, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Part of understanding the love of God is knowing that Jesus does not require us to be “worthy” of His love before he acts with love. Jesus could have easily destroyed the world, but “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him” (John 3:17).

Abide in Christ (Changing Your Life - Ep. 4)
We can all reach a point where our ordinary love runs out. Some have higher thresholds than others. It may be caused by a cheating spouse, an abusive friend, betrayal, harassment, whatever your breaking point may be. But as a believer, you have access to a Vine of unlimited love to share with your friends, family, and even those that are not so lovable. When we see our love transcend our natural ability, we know that we are abiding in God and His Spirit is truly changing our lives. Here is an extraordinary example of God’s provision
When the elders and the high priests falsely accused Stephen before the supreme council, he was still visibly "full of faith and power." (Acts 6:8) The people who saw him, "were not able to resist the wisdom by which he spoke." They "saw his face as it had been the face of an angel." (Acts 6:10,15) As they gnashed their teeth and ran at him to cast him out of the city, Steven was still "full of the Holy Spirit" (7:55) Even as they were stoning him, Stephen said, "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge." (7:60) Only God could have given him the type of love to forgive his assassins.
This love is divinely obtained through saving faith in Christ and further developed by the Holy Spirit. As we walk with him, we experience His love and power, in place of our own. That is how we know that we are abiding in Christ and filled with His fulness.
Let us use the MYLEAP chart, on the next page, to begin the process of absorbing today’s principle. The Holy Spirit will take it from there. Don’t forget to share your thoughts and experience with friends that have joined us on this journey by subscribing to our Facebook Group (Changing Your Life Group) and our YouTube Channel “MYLEAP Guide”.

Proof of Discipleship (Changing Your Life - Ep. 3)
The proof that we are Christians does not come through a prayer, our knowledge of Scripture, church attendance or even our spiritual gifts. Jesus told his disciples,
“As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples” – (John 13:34-35)
The Apostle Paul persuaded the Corinthians to place love above all. In fact, he said that the only perfect way to pursue the spiritual gifts, is the way of love. He wanted them to show love in everything they did because the expression of God’s love in our lives is how others will see Christ. (1 Corinthians 16:14)
Love is the main subject in Jesus’ high priestly prayer for all believers. He prayed, “that they all may be one … that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them” (John 17:21-22).
Love doesn't just fall from heaven; God needs willing vessels to spread His Love throughout the world. We are extensions of His Love to one another. It is only God's Love through our actions that will bring our spouse, our children, our family, our neighbors, and yes, even our boss to the feet of Jesus. Our flowery words about Jesus are not enough. Our actions must match our words for it to be truth. We basically need to live out His Love through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Love Is The Answer To Life (Changing Your Life - Ep. 1)
This is the secret to the happiness we all search for. Believe or not, your love for God and your neighbor is the answer to living a fulfilled life. But knowing the answer does not solve the problem, because apart from God – who is love, we are incapable of truly loving others. To make things even more difficult, Jesus raised the bar by saying that love should be shared “with ALL” and I repeat – with ALL your heart, soul, body, and mind. In other words, it takes 100% of your Love in every facet of your nature to fully experience happiness.

God's Purpose For Your Life (Changing Your Life - Ep. 2)
So many people realize, far too late, that after working hard their entire lives to reach their own goals (whether it’s – to be happy, to have their own business, or have financial freedom), they recognize that in the process of attaining these things, they’ve lost the true meaning of their lives. They miss the very reason they were created for.

Prayer stands for the "P" in the last letter of the "MY LEAP" System.
Prayer might be the most puzzling activity in the Christian life. We know we need to pray, but we don’t pray enough, and we are not always sure that we’re doing it right. We wonder what we should be asking God for or how many times we should ask? How should I ask? – should it be based on His promise or for His will to be done?

There is little value to an honest, biblical self-evaluation, unless it inspires action to change your life. If I hear God’s Word but don’t obey it, I fool myself into thinking I’m a disciple of Christ. (James 1:22)

Self-evaluation is an ongoing responsibility of every Christian. However, the standard of measure is not our conscience, because there is always a tendency to gauge ourselves by ourselves, and that shows a serious lack of objectivity. (2 Corinthians 10:12)
If a Christian is ignorant of the proper standard, he will make the wrong evaluation of his life.
In Galatians 6:3,

"Your Story" (or Journaling) stands for the second letter (Y) of the MY LEAP System. Journaling is a modern-day version of building altars and giving God the glory for what is happening in your life. It is a way to tell your story; to challenge and teach your children; and to serve as a clear monument to God’s faithfulness.
Unfortunately, some view journaling as an interruption from our busy lifestyle. But as one who keeps a journal, I can attest that it has been a valuable practice in my walk as a Christian.
