Get out of your mind and into your life.

Excessive worry is a thief. You become so focused on right now that tomorrow might as well be nonexistent. Some worry is natural though. It's important to determine what the worry is based in.

For example, is your worry based from fear, shame, guilt, doubt, or some other state. Knowing this can help you figure out what needs to be worked on and comforted internally. Watch out for using your usual unhealthy coping skills to deal with the problems of today.

We seek the teeth to match our wounds to help bring balance and closure to our lives.

When we experience pain or trauma, it can be difficult to feel safe and secure in our lives. We often spend our time searching the source of our hurts or why we do the things we do. Sometimes the teeth we find seem to match but they aren't quite right.

Finding the right solution to help us heal and move forward can be a challenge. This can be due to the fact the person who gave you the wound in the first place is some you love and/or admire. It can be difficult to figure how to help that wound become a scar.

On the other end, matching the teeth to our wounds can be a metaphor for finding the right tools to help us heal. It can remind us that while our wounds can be deep and painful, there are solutions and resources out there to help us cope and heal.

Haters gonna hate.

It's not your job to try and figure the who, what, and why someone is over on the sidelines being a hater. Many times, the reason they are hating doesn't have anything to do with you.

Envy and a sense of inadequacy are prime real estate for hater-land. It's hard for a person to see something they want (and can't have) and others are successful at it. In some cases, not all, haters can be dangerous people to be around. This is because they will use an opportunity to put down someone to temporarily make themselves feel better.

If you spend your time trying to make haters feel better, you will end up being on the sidelines with them. Keep your focus on what you've got going on. If you are trying to convince a hater about your situation, you might want to examine your confidence about it. Look at who's around you and dive deep into learning about them.

When you look at your circle, you may have to start pruning like some trees. An important part of this process is knowing the difference between a hater, someone being a voice of reason, and someone pushing you to grow. If this lesson isn't learned then you may cut out the healthy parts.

So remember, haters are going to hate, but you need to know the difference between a hater and a critique. What do you think makes a hater?

Their sh*t don't stink.

Dealing with a true narcissist is exhausting. Trying to tiptoe around their fragile ego unintentionally makes the people around them good at manipulation too. It also creates this space where the narcissist isn't held accountable for their actions.

The people in their life get so tired of trying to explain and justify their own feelings that they just stop feeling things. They get tired of being the source of the narcissist's "pain" while ignoring what's happening to them.

The funny thing is, the narcissist (for the most part) has to do the same thing to themselves that they do to others. They generally have to convince themselves they are as good as they say they are. Buuut, everyone knows the truth.

They can't get out of their own way.

"Don't worry I got it." How many times have you said that?

Being independent sounds good in theory, but when taken to an extreme it leads to feelings of burnout, isolation, and loneliness. Hyper independence can be a trauma response that serves to protect you from harm.

The problem is this type of trauma response does not give you the outcomes your inner child is looking for. You may believe this brings you protection...and in some ways it does. However, in the long run, you may become isolated and lonely because others do not know how to connect with you.

Your past has told you that relying on others is unpredictable and fruitless. So to deal with that you've learned to only depend on yourself.

The issue here is sometimes we can be our own worst enemy--especially when the only opinion we have to analyze is our own.

Start by seeking help for something small with no major consequences. Analyze your thoughts, behavior, and response to the request. Watch your belief system to see if you unknowingly interfere with the person doing something for you.

It takes time to undo unhealthy responses. Don't rush. Be gentle with yourself.

Closed mouths don't get fed, right? Not always. Sometimes keeping something to yourself is the best route at the time.

Now keeping a secret is a little different than being private. Privacy is more about merely being outside of public attention. On the other hand, secrecy is a deliberate and focused act of keeping something private or confidential.

There are definite reasons a person may keep something secret. These reasons may not always have good intention, but they are reasons nonetheless. Risk of harm and reputation, threat to another, fear of rejection, shame, and guilt are just some of the reasons people hide things from others.

We've talked several times about impact versus intent. This has to be weighed out before making the decision to reveal something.

A person has to consider the impact on themselves and others, along with understanding their "why" for opening up. Being prepared for the result of revealing a secret can be just as scary as keeping the secret.

It's important to be calm, open, and honest if someone reveals something secret to you. Primarily because you may be unaware of how difficult it was for them to get to that place. Genuine support goes a long way.

September must be the month of exposing a cheater. First Ime Udoka, now Adam Levine (Maroon 5) and Ned Turner (Try Guys) have allegedly had extramarital affairs.

People step outside their relationships for all kinds of reasons. Unless there is an understanding amongst the primary relationship, cheating is not okay. This understanding can come in the form of an open relationship or polyamory. However, these types of relationships have solid rules and boundaries about how each person is to behave.

If you are not watering the foundation of your relationship, then it can begin to crack and make it easier for things like this to occur. Again, it is not a justification but it is a reason. Other times, people just do what they want to do because they are not being honest with themselves or are being selfish.

Cheating isn't the answer.

Communication is key in any relationship, but so is honesty and openness. If these aren't present, then why even bother.

Beauty doesn't protect you from being hurt by others. Unless you've been under a rock, news recently came out about Nia Long's partner having an affair. For some reason people think being exceptionally attractive makes you immune from the downs that come in relationships. Physical attractiveness is just that. It doesn't speak to a person's communication style, problem solving, childhood attachments, past traumas, expectations, wants, or needs. Beauty has nothing to do with how a person treats others or is treated by others in relationships. Generally, attractive people receive preferential treatment publicly, but privately will experience the same ups and downs as others.

Being conventionally attractive doesn't diminish that person's pain either. If the person is a public figure, it can amplify their pain because it is on display for so many to comment on. It can complicate the healing process as well due to the public pressure and expectation to react a certain way.

We, as the public, have to be conscious that in situations like these we are talking about real people and not just characters on a screen. A person who has been cheated on needs space to figure out what the best move is for them. What isn't helpful in a situation like this is being bombarded with questions and directives on how they should move. A more effective move is being supportive and nonjudgmental regarding that person's' situation because it is possible for any of us at any time to go through something similar.

You're not yourself when you're angry. Speaking out of anger will many times lead to damage control once things settle down. Sometimes damage control will not be enough and the hurt is too much. So, 'THINK' before you speak. Ask yourself if what you want to say is true, helpful, inspiring, necessary, and/or kind.

Why? This can be one of the most loaded questions you can ask a person or yourself. However, it is important to understand your why. Looking at why you feel, think, and act the way you do is just the beginning. Ever think about your career path and why you truly chose to go the direction you did. Ponder on the goals you've set and why those are your goals. Now is as good a time as any to consider your why.

Labor Day was created as a way to celebrate laborers and the contributions of workers to their respective industries. The way the world is now, it is important to truly show appreciation to the people that keep the world turning. Without the labor force, it is believable that the world would come to a screeching halt (as we've seen with the supply chain issues since corona started). So thank you to all the workers of the world.

We don't know whether to be glad or not because this is not normal for Aug/Sept in TX. This is the last BBQ holiday before "the holidays" start and it's going to be mosquito central with all this humidity. Silver lining is that field of hay known as our front yard has turned into a nice luscious green 😂😂.

Making tough decisions sucks...like for real. Sometimes you can get caught up in "analysis paralysis" and end up missing out on an opportunity because you took too long to make a decision. Other times, you end up with an unwanted consequence because you rushed your decision. It seems like there is no real way to go, right. Well, you have to look at the factors around your decision to figure out what the best course of action is. This can include asking others opinions, looking at best case and worst case scenarios, and checking your biases.
