I had the honour of being Programme Director at the Mpumalanga Green Innovation Challenge event in Mbombela last week Tuesday. The Top 12 Finalists pitched for top honours on the day and they were all fantastic!

The speakers from government, sponsors, and committed partners working to advance sustainable growth in Mpumalanga touched on the themes of inclusion, intention, dialogue and partnership - and how to make them tangible for all, especially communities in their everyday lives.

It was encouraging to hear more about the necessary and at times challenging work being done on ensuring that there is an inclusive approach taken to Mpumalanga’s green transition, ensuring both economic resilience and climate action.

Thank you to the organising team, partners and finalists for a wonderful time spent, learning from and being inspired by you 💫

My parents and some of my family who watched me grow up, especially in the early years always tell me that I was a quiet child…Adult me is still on the quiet side but sometimes, just sometimes, the person in these pics makes an appearance…nerves, excitement, curiosity and all.

When my job title on this particular day was Programme Director.

It was truly incredible being part of such an insightful dialogue that focused on the inclusion of communities in not only the discussions around but also on how communities can and should really be included every step of the way.

Nerves? Had me in a chokehold. But then I remembered in the early months of 2024, I’d been looking at a particular LinkedIn page and had promised myself that I would one day get to work on a specific project. It hasn’t happened - yet - but I’m a step closer and learning.

One day I just might share more about the conversation I had with the .africa founder this week 💕🌸

It was a conversation I didn’t realise I needed at the time but it reminded me about why it matters to stay committed to what it is that you do. The or - the one that sometimes only makes sense to you and keeps you up at night and adds that sparkle in your eyes when you speak on it.

It also reminded me to not limit myself, my , what I am capable of and how far I can go with it all. There is no limit, just the opportunity to keep going and making sure that we uplift others along the way to the best of our ability.
