183. Why women leave the trades - A conversation with 2 female auto industry veterans
Livestream TONIGHT 5pm pacific | 8pm eastern
In this episode Bogi is joined by past guest Jill Trotta, who has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, to have an important discussion on why women leave the trades and what we feel needs to change in order to see the numbers of women (and other minorities) increase in the trades.
Women make up less than 10% across all trades in the United States, and in many trades its less than 2%.
Over the past decade or so, there has been several initiatives to increase the diversity of those entering these fields, and while those efforts are gaining steam and have succeeded in increasing the number of women enrolling in trade schools and starting out in the field - the overall number has not increased. And that is because they aren't staying in the industry and often leave after 3-4 years.
