People will try to impose their views on what is marketable on to you... don't let them. People will suggest or outright tell you that your characters or story elements are too singular and you exclude people from buying your book... don't let them. Tell your story your way, you never know who will be touched.

Happy hump day family. Its time for this week's Wednesday Write Ups and today we're taking about a mistake that can fell even the best of writers...how to use lay vs. lie. Participles can really trip you up so here's an easy tip to remember; use "lay" when talking about an object and "lie" when referring to a person. Hope this helps.

Today's lesson is all about the proper usage of metaphors and similes. Sprinkle these into your writing to add some tasty flavor, but not too much! You don't want to over season.

Today's Wednesday Write Up is one that trips us up so much: Don't wait until your story is perfect, get it out there.

You don't want eyes on your work until it is just right, all i's dotted and all t's crossed. I get it, I truly do, but life isn't perfect. Life is messy, disappointing, sometimes exhilarating and that is what your audience connects with. You will write the authenticity out of your story trying to make it "perfect" and lose that vial connect with your audience. Put the idea of perfecting a story out of your mind and see what a weight is lifted from your shoulders because...that's what us editors are for😉
