Here are some basic tools you need to create digital products.

-The brain: The Author of all ideas, the engine room, where it all begins, whatever you create come out of here, use this tool well, it is a gift from the Most High, the more you use it, the more it produces.

Pen and paper: If you are old fashion like me, pen and paper it is, you can plot out your idea and see as it comes to life, it’s always exciting to me how a tiny idea grows just by looking at a paper and writing. I am a believer that the shortest pencil beats the longest memory, now get a pen and write😊.

Word processing apps: Technology has made life so easy, if you are not a pen-and-paper person, you can still note down your ideas using these apps on your devices, just sync the devices, and you would be able to work on your laptop, and also continue on your phone anytime, anywhere. I use Evernote and just copy and paste wherever helps me develop ideas on the go. You can use Google Docs, or Microsoft Word for this or try other apps.

-Resource centers: You use these to expand your ideas and find more depth to for your digital products, examples are Answer the Public, Google Trends, and Chatgtp, when used properly, a whole new world awaits once you know how to use these tools, you unlock ‘gold’ literally.

-Cloud Storage: Also known as file sharing and hosting. You need a safe haven for your ideas, works, and all. The cloud got you, you can use Google Drive or Dropbox for safekeeping, and you can access these anytime. I have a tutorial on Google Drive coming up.

Graphics design apps: These apps allow you to create and edit images and so much more for your products, apps like Canva, and Adobe Photoshop are to the rescue, if you are like me that know nothing about design, Canva is your plug, this app was created d by designers for non-designers like you and I.

-Recording apps: These can be screen recording app or voice recording app, that helps you record your product, the likes of screenpal( former screencast-o-matic), Audacity, OBS, etc helps you create your digital product.

I cannot remember the first digital product I bought. I am sure it's an ebook at that time, I didn't know it was called that, what I can remember is the particular platform that made me comfortable with online classes and online payment was . ⁣

Back in 2012, the baking bug had just bitten me a year ago and I went gaga...😊, Craftsy made me see I could sit anywhere and learn but I actually wasn't seeing what was in front of me because all I did was log in and access my classes but you know what, the platform made me develop confidence that I can be anywhere in the world and actually acquire pure, undiluted knowledge. ⁣

In 2015, I decided I wanted more but could not leave my job to get more (I was in banking). I decided there must be a school online that can help me as craftsy did a while back. I call this exposure...lol, imagine if I never experienced Craftsy. Now, this was the game changer for me, I got into Escoffier online culinary academy and studied fundamentals of baking and pastry arts for a year. It wasn't the course I went for that kept nagging me, ⁣
It was these questions... ⁣
⁣
How were they able to do this? Hold my attention for a year and teach me from far away and I grasped what they needed to impact?. ⁣
⁣
My questions turned into a feeling, a need I could not let go of. I knew they were persons like me that can't be present physically but needed this and I had my light bulb moment, my coach calls this an 'aha moment'. I decided to seek this out because it would be the core for training when I turned my hobby ( baking ) into a business.⁣
⁣
In 2017, I enrolled in 's course and I fell in love with a whole new world, where your knowledge gives you keys to own your printing press. After creating my first digital product, a free ebook, I have gone ahead to do more and look forward to so much more.⁣

I began because I wanted to shine the light on an additional path for bakers (for hobbyists and those who will turn this into another business) that can help 2x, 5x, 10x and even more x their inflow using what they already have which is their knowledge.⁣( Continue in the comment section)

As a baker, when you hear digital products ,you mostly go hmmmm… I am not techy, you also think about cost . Today, my focus is to awaken in you that to start you really don’t need much, I need you to see what begun this, an idea with a dose of confidence lead me to create my very first digital product and earn from it.

Thinking of what digital product to produce as a baker? Here are six digital products to create, there are more but let’s begin with these.

Ebook: The one product you can begin with and test the waters, easy to create, can be done in a very very short time, builds authority, some call it a low priced digital product because eBooks are mostly priced low, when done right you can earn big from eBooks.

Online course: My favorite, can be video or email, in-depth teaching, very transformational as it takes your students through a journey.

Webinar: Can be live or pre-recorded.

Templates/ pdf: Think of guides, planner, checklist etc, it’s plug and play or copy and paste, a recipe guide is one of this as it tells you the step by steps to take to achieve a good baked item.

Graphics: Create graphics that can be used example Cake care cards, digital decorated cakes etc, can you think it and design it, you can earn from this.

Membership: Earning on steroid😁😁, your valuable content makes people pay you continuously to learn from you example Avalon cakes school, Yeners way, sugar sugar cake school, craftsy.

Having a successful digital product means you must understand these three things.
-Know the type of digital product you want to produce
-The creation process
-The selling process

Most bakers get one and two but miss three. It is key you learn to sell your digital product. In fact it is paramount.

Getting these 3 right is a sure deal to impacting your students and earning.

Pain is a propeller. There is always a lesson or point to pick if you look well. To create a good digital product, you must understand the pain(s) of your potential. For me, I will say you should have walked the path of the pain your client is experiencing and because you have gone through it you understand the conversions going on in the minds of your potential and this makes it easy for you to join in the conversion she is having in her mind.

I used to detest buttercream cakes with so much passion because I could never have a clean finish. The cakes mostly would have dome or a bended finish with so much buttercream on the cake. In short, buttercream cakes were a nightmare, the pain I go through and the palpitations I suffer whenever I had to cover a buttercream cake was not of this world. Really covering a buttercream cake wasn’t my favorites.

This pain had become so strong, I had to seek solutions and I found the solution. I went for a buttercream upgrade class and the rest become history. One day the idea drops that I should create a buttercream course that would serve the pain I had experienced and help persons that where going through the same pain find solutions.

It was easy for me

- To identify my hungry market that needed this course.
- Understand the offer(the online course) to create and make it an irrestiable offer.
- Paint the destination ( how it will look when they finally know how to make breathtaking buttercream cakes.
- Market the course because I knew the pain points they were experiencing, so I kept mentioning the pain while marketing the course.

All the above and more was possible because I understood what they were going through, remember I used to be one of them.

In creating digital products especially an online course, you need to understand the pain of your potential student and harness that pain to create an amazing product that would be beneficial to your potential client. Remember it is all about your potential. Understand this and know peace.

What pain have your gone through in your baking career that you overcame. In that pain lies profit as you can impact on another baker while earning.

Uncle Mark once said, "Ideas don't come out fully formed. They only become clear as you work on them. You just have to get started. "

You really don't need to know everything to get started but you need to know something to begin and then build on it, just the simple things you have available to start, add consistency, the willingness to improve and the sky is your starting point.

Why do I say this? I say this because before learning all the tech stuff that aided me in selling digital products, I started from not knowing much. In fact, my first digital product, an ebook titled " Making simple filler flowers," was sold off mastering how to use a simple tool called Google Drive.

In my journey as a digital product creator, this is one big mindset I have come across, did I have it?

YES

It's a continuous journey because as I attain a new level and tackle new "adventures", it rears its ugly head now and again but guess what?

I tell myself you did in the past, it's just a new road, let's drive and prove to myself that I can.

So I say to you, you can, if only you permit yourself.

I am rooting for you.

If you don't know let me break it to you, your first products will not be all that. Years later you will look at the products and cringe, asking yourself what was I thinking...

You were thinking good because perfection is just an elder brother of procrastination. You don't move because you keep piling excuses to justify why...

Things like
I need to have gadgets,
I need to do professional videos,
I need a certain phone to be able to create what I want,
And so much more.

Would these help you yes, but if you don't have them, should they stop you? NO.

You give all you can at the moment you can, that's why there are second, third editions.

You are on a better journey, you will always strive to become best because you keep working on being better.

My first online course, ebook, webinar, bundle were not all that but I moved and earned from them and went back to working on the second editions, will there be more editions? ...ofcourse😁😁.

Now get off your path, you are blocking you from moving forward.

Remember the world needs you rich.

Note this, you are not called to serve everyone. To move forward in your goal of creating digital products you will need to know what segment of the market you want to serve. Knowing this will help you understand the pain points and the questions to ask which would help you, help your audience. In simpler terms, it is called a Niche.

What segment of the baking industry do you want to serve, the beginners/novice, Intermediate or the Experts, do you want to focus on buttercream, fondant, modelling, wedding cakes, business structure etc.You need to niche down because there is money in niches.

Now after you know your niche, you will need to build a customer persona because in your niche you might have 2 to 5 different audience type and this would help you create the right product for the different audience you serve as you will speak in the language they understand.Example, your niche is buttercream, your customer persona might be newbies to buttercream( have no idea of buttercream so a product like a beginner guide to buttercream would serve), another persona might be persons that have experienced buttercream but have a fear of buttercream ( a brushup buttercream course that provides them with the confidence to take up buttercream will serve), another persona might be persons that would love to get writting in buttercream right ( a product on Calligraphy solves this). Knowing all these would help you create the right product to serve the right audience and you would know the right words to use to make them say yes...I want this product.

So bakers get you pen and paper out, what segment of the market are you serving? Now go ahead and create your customer personas .
