New research into alternative uses for h**p has discovered that cannabinoids found in the plant may one day be used to create natural pesticides.

The study uncovered that h**p leaves with a higher concentration of cannabinoids displayed less chewing damage from insect pests than leaves containing less cannabinoids.

Researchers hope that further study could produce new natural insecticides, most likely for use on non-edible plants only.

Whilst scientists have investigated both the intoxicating and medicinal effects of cannabinoids, very little research has been carried out in order to fully identify why cannabis plants ever developed these distinct substances in the first place.

"It has been speculated that cannabinoids are natural defensive compounds because they primarily accumulate in female flowers to protect seeds, which is a fairly common concept in plants.”

Although the U.K. legalised medical cannabis back in 2018, a recent report stated that so far, no NHS studies have been funded to help explore the efficiency of medical cannabis.

Picking up the slack, however, U.K.-based Celadon Pharmaceuticals recently began a clinical trial featuring 5,000 patients suffering from chronic pain.

A leaked report has shown that the UK government's official drug advisers privately endorsed the abolition of the criminalisation of personal-use drug possession in 2016.

This allegation comes after the Guardian newspaper saw a 27-page pro-decriminalisation report. A report which the Home Office ignored on its creation in 2016 but then fought a three-year battle to keep confidential after a freedom of information request.

The German Federal Cabinet approved the draft of the "Law on the Controlled Use of Cannabis and Amendment of Other Regulations" (CanG). It is based on the 2-pillar framework paper and implements the 1st pillar for private and communal, non-commercial cultivation of cannabis for personal use by adults - simply put: it legalizes possession, consumption, and cultivation for personal use and allows cultivation in social clubs.
