Ok, we have an update on the next round of closed playtests: while we were fixing bugs of pre-alpha V3, our optimisation squad made huge progress on their side. We want to speak openly to our community even when we do mistakes. So, here is an update on our roadmap: the gameplay video was published in November, as promised. Thanks for your support and engagement, it was a blast!
On the other hand, it took more time than expected to set up our Pre-Alpha version. The tests for the Founding Community members started in December and our tests for the community were postponed until January.

Thank you for your patience, we will start inviting you to our test environment soon! React to this post so we would know you want to be the first to participate in the community playtests!

Meet our lead game designer

- Question 1: What projects were you working on?

- Mainly on War Robots, but there were many others. Most of them are unannounced yet so I can't tell much, but there’s a couple of AAA shooters. War robots has a special place in my heart since it was my first and biggest gig. If you played it - you have probably seen the content I worked on (from English pack, all the way to Korean!). Besides, I work on countless pet projects of mine which vary from games to gamified Twitch apps.

I worked my way up from making minor weapon tweaks and graphical flourishes to designing core gameplay and AI.

- Question 2: What are you doing in KEK?

- I’m a Lead Game Designer. I make sure that the in-game content people interact with is fun, engaging, and fair. There’s a lot that goes into it: movement configurations, balance, shooting mechanics, level design, and basically everything that you encounter in a match and beyond.

Thankfully, I'm not doing this on my own, we have a whole team of game designers who work hard to ensure that we make a game we can all enjoy.

- Question 3: What’s so special about the project of KEK?

- First of all, it's a completely new project and a lot of core ideas are not set in stone yet. That means we can change things without huge time sinks or risks and iterate on our gameplay much faster, which results in a more polished game overall. This makes us extremely flexible and allows us to respond to players feedback a lot quicker. And listening to our community, in my opinion, is what matters most for us. After all, we’re making this project for everyone to enjoy.

Projectwise - we are tired of the current state of slow tactical shooters and we want to bring something game changing, something that will set a new standard for this genre, and I believe we have what it takes.

We’re making a game we ourselves would be fans of and it’s a passion project that we make with tender love and care.

- Question 4: What is the next big thing you are working on?

- Right now we’re focused on developing a pre-pre-alpha version. It is a very tense milestone, because we’re creating a version that will prove our core concepts - faction gameplay, character roles and abilities, and level design.

On top of that, we are working hard on our artstyle, making all factions unique not only in terms of gameplay, but also visually, which can be pretty difficult since we have a sci-fi setting and we do not want it to be a cliche.
