Bringing this story alive for the first time ever on the big screen by producers Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Jackky Bhagnani.
The multilingual project is written and directed by R S Vimal. This film will be the most distinguished and grand production from Pooja Entertainment till date.

Dhanush scored a hit with director Vetri Maaran's Asuran, which was one of the best films of 2019. He was last seen in Gautham Menon's Enai Noki Paayum Thota, which received lukewarm responses from the audience. Now, the actor is busy shooting for his upcoming film with director Mari Selvaraj of Pariyerum Perumal fame.
On January 5, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu announced the title of Dhanush and Mari Selvaraj's film as Karnan. He took to Twitter to share the news and wrote, "Not just Love, Compassion and Mercy #Karnan also gives you Victory! Full fledged shoot in progress.
Within a few days, the makers of Karnan are facing issues related to the film's title. For the uninitiated, Karnan is thespian Sivaji Ganesan's iconic film, which released in 1964. Now, Sivaji Ganesan's fans have taken offence to the title and have requested producer Thanu to tweak it.
Chandrasekharan, President of Sivaji Social Welfare Association, wrote a letter to Thanu regarding the title. "We all know that Karnan is legendary Sivaji Ganesan sir’s classic film. Now we have come to know that your film with Dhanush is titled as Karnan. It would be great if you could add a prefix or suffix instead of repeating the title of Sivaji’s classic film as it hurts the sentiment of ardent fans," he wrote.
The makers are presently shooting for the film in Tirunelveli and the first schedule is expected to go on for a couple of weeks. It is unclear whether producer Kalaipuli S Thanu would make changes to the title or not.
Karnan, directed by Mari Selvaraj, features Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan, Lal and Yogi Babu pin pivotal roles. The film is expected to hit the theatres in the second half of 2020.
