Continuing on our deep dive into the Puzzmo crossword constructors, today we feature Kate Atkinson, known on Puzzmo as swimtime
Madison Greenstein posts that the quality of Puzzmo Cross|words is represented in the effort to preserve the voice and personality of the constructor.
Kate tells us:“Cross|words are a chorus made up of unique voices. There’s an editorial interest in things that would likely be dismissed or censored in other venues. As an older Millennial, I have had to ponder hard a few current references in clues, and that is great. Younger constructors are naming the cultural phenomena that are shaping their lives, but I never feel excluded or that I can’t piece it together. One of the clues in my Cross|word was about Angela Davis’s prison abolitionist writing. That clue could only get published by a venue that thinks that knowing about the topic is worth the solvers’ while.”
