SEAPORT POLITICS OF NIGERIA: Warri Seaport in Delta State as a Case Study.
______
We were told that the Warri Seaport needed to be dredged before it could begin to function. And like one of my kinsmen confidently said few weeks ago, "the depth of the Warri-Aladja River is not up to 3ft, so a ship cannot dock in either the Warri Sea Port or the Delta Steel Company (DSC) in Aladja", measuring it with his leg, as we sat to drink, but I was quick to rebuke him.

That lie that a ship cannot dock at the Warri Seaport is a big fallacy that has eaten deep into the mind of that typical Wafarian. We have been lied to and deceived that not even a mini cargo ship can access the waters of Warri River with a 140ft long caravan container, not to talk of dropping its anchor ⚓️ deep down the waters of Warri River like what is obtainable in the Seaport in Lagos State. But in their quest to get what they (Warri Seaport adversaries) want, Warri waters with its Seaport is now the only place where pipes are being offloaded and taken to Northern Nigeria, to start the gas project that would facilitate unfettered gas delivery from the Utorogun Gas Flow Station in Otughievwen here in Delta State to faraway Niger Republic, instead of using their most beloved seaports in Lagos State. [Shameless hypocrisy and injustice].

Since the turn of this year, 24 trucks with three pipes tied on the back of each truck totalling 72, are moved out of the Warri Seaport to Ajaokuta, Okene in Kogi State on a daily basis [from Sunday to Monday]. And now with both camps in Kogi State already filled with those pipes, Abaji in Abuja is their next location, while some are already being taken to Sokoto and Kaduna States. Those figures are the ones being moved by trucks, those being moved by train to Ajaokuta are not included in my calculation.

I am not smiling writing this long and short post, I am angry at the nonchalant attitude of my kinsmen and my great people of Delta state. I have been part of this project, I have followed them to those locations, I had to stop. It is quite painful and difficult to take. Because my home has become the dumping ground, and they take full advantage of the nonchalance of my people. It hurts, but my little question in all of these is this.

Since the Seaports in Lagos state are the only optimally functional ones in the entire country, why are those ships not taking those pipes to those Lagos seaports for onward transportation instead of the "shallow" Warri Seaport? Or are the Lagos State seaports only good for business like dropping containers of materials and other stuffs, while the Warri Seaport is only good as a dump site for some selfish people?

If ships with pipes of this magnitudes can mount their anchors and drop those pipes at the Warri Seaport, what prevents the Warri port from being a business hub as obtainable in Lagos State?

4 Signs That Shows Your Blood Sugar Is Too High

According to a webMD article, there are some early warning signs of high blood sugar that everyone around the world needs to be aware of. In this article, I'll educate you on these signs of high blood sugar in order to keep you safe from diabetes. Many people around the world don't know if their blood sugar is high until it has harmed their health

1. Noticing that you have to urinate frequently is one of the early indicators that your blood sugar is rising. It may occur from various health conditions, but it is one of the primary symptoms of high blood sugar that everyone in the world needs to be aware of.

2. Another early indicator of high blood sugar is the constant thirst you experience because this is a sign that your body is dehydrated and needs more water to stay hydrated. However, if you realize that you are constantly thirsty, you should seek medical attention right away because this is one of the first indications of high blood sugar and should be avoided at all costs.

3. The inability to clearly see objects in your immediate environment is another early indicator of high blood sugar. Blurred vision can be caused by other health conditions, but if you detect this condition on its own without any other symptoms, you should think about going to your doctor right away to get aid and treatment.

4. Although headaches can be caused by other health conditions, you should see your doctor right away if you notice that you only experience this headache. This is one of the early signs of high blood sugar, which needs to be treated right away.

OLOROGUN MICHAEL ONAJIRHEVBE IBRU, HOW HE MADE IT TO THE TOP:
Michael Ibru a prominent Nigeria business man from Agbarha-Otor was the head of the IBRU organization. Born on 25 December1930. He was the first seven children of the late Mr and Mrs Pa Peter Epete Ibru, a missionary worker who also worked at the Igbobi orthopedic hospital,Lagos.
After secondary school, he joined the United Africa company(UAC)as a management trainee. In1956 a few years after joining he dropped out of company and started a partnership, which he called LAIBRU. The corporate entity was in partnership with an expatriate, Jimmy Large. After engaging in general trading with some success in1957, Michael discovered that the frozen fish market was a fertile market with the potential to deliver return above the market rate.
However, it was a tough market to pe*****te it that time. Many expertrate firms and Nigerian traders were lacking and some were not interested in the market. But he felt he could put extra efforts communicating with general traders who played key roles in products acceptance to trade in seafood, he established an importing company, he also rented and built cold storage facilities across the country. By the mid- 1960s trading fish had become the trading money maker for the IBRU organization. Though he had other profitable interest such as transportation and construction, fish trading helped him secure financing and other forms of capital to engage in large scale trading. He established a partnership with a Taiwanese company OSADJERE fishing company, which provides trawlers and other accessories for trading. By the end of the 1960s, he branched out fully into other areas of the economy. Like a lot of his contemporaries, he established a transportation company called RUTAM. He also invested in PALM OIL production. Over the years IBRU organization has expanded into other areas such as TOURISM, BREWERY, TIMBER AND POULTRY.
He was known as an enterpresuniasial figure who created on the largest modern Nigeria groups.
URHOBO NATION. Urhobo men and women have profited at many levels since the rise of the IBRU in the second half of the1950s First, Urhobo market women were among the first batch of Nigerians to embrace the IBRU frozen fish. Many of them rose from relative poverty to higher economic bracket because they participated in the IBRU venture.
There were more direct beneficiaries from Michael Ibru oppenness to his Urhobo people. Professionals who joined the Ibru organization, many of them left successfully to pursue their own independent dream constructed with the aid of ambitions conceived in the Ibru organization. A full list of Urhobo professional who prospered in the Ibru organization is uncountable.
Michael Ibru has embraced cultural traditions, he popularized the use of the title OLOROGUN in place for Chief. Olorogun Michael Ibru died at the medical facilities in the United States in the early hours of September6 2016 few days to clock 86 years.

OCTOBER 1ST 1938: A SPECIAL DAY IN URHOBO HISTORY .
By Dr Ejiro Imuere

On the first of October 1938 the Government of NIGERIA brought into effect the directive of a Special Gazette, as it pertains the Urhobo people.
That Thenceforth the Sobos of the Warri Province in the Niger Delta, be no longer known as Sobos in all Government Publications, but as Urhobos as they chose to call themselves.
This was based on so many Petitions from the U.P.U, and other eminent Urhobos.
They Rejected the Anglicized/ Itsekiri version and Pronunciation of their tribal name.

Deep meaning to this: The Urhobos thus were the first to free themselves from European Colonialism by rejecting the Colonial name they were called
Now take this , by October 1st 1938, When Urhobo land got this independence, no one knew or evisaged that the British will grant independence to the entire Country Nigeria on the Same October 1st in 1960, 22 years later.
No one also knew that on that same day in 1963,, October 1st, ( 25 years later) Nigeria will become a republic.
It was on October 1st too in 2021, that many Urhobo Youths came together in P.T.I to start a declaration to reject the Anglicized name "Warri over their lands and territories", because the Government of Nigeria had given Warri as a Traditional title to the Itsekiri people.
If changing of name wasn't important, our ancestors wouldn't have fought for this Change. The Urhobo People were thus the Genesis of the "October 1st" phenomenon. A day of freedom for Nigeria.

I am an Urhobo man, ...I am not a Sobo man.
I am a Wado city man, not a Warri boy.
Wado city nor dey carry last, but them they carry first.

Urhobo Wadooooo.

*****COURT SACKS Gov. UMAHI AND HIS DEPUTY OVER DEFECTION TO APC***

The Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the seats of the Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, vacant, following their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC)

The governor and his deputy defected from the PDP on whose platform they were elected into office in the 2015 and 2019 general elections to the APC.

Presiding over the court on Tuesday, March 8, Justice Inyang Ekwo held that the total number of 393, 042 votes governor Umahi secured during the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Ebonyi state, belonged to the PDP and same could not be legally transferred to the APC.

According to the court, having defected to the APC, both Umahi and his deputy, not only jettisoned the PDP, but also the votes that belonged to it. He, therefore, ordered the governor and his deputy to vacate office.

The Judge also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to receive names of candidates from the PDP to replace Messrs Umahi and Igwe.

“There is no constitutional provision that made the ballot transferrable from one party to the other. The votes in any election in Nigeria are to political parties, and not candidates,” the judge held.

Every Urhobo name means something. It could be cultural, spiritual or attributional. Urhobos believe a person behaves like his/her name. They also believe that children live up to the meaning or likeness of their name. If a child is named ‘stup!d’ or ‘bush’, he may grow up to be ‘wayward’ on the other hand, if a child has a name that suggests ‘glory’ or ‘joy’, he will invariably become a successful person. Urhobo people are very cautious when naming their children because they believe names are highly significant.

In Urhobo culture, it is extremely normal for a child to be named by anyone other than his parents. It is a sign of honour and respect. In many villages with Urhobo culture, there is an absence of elaborate or special naming ceremonies that need the performance of certain rituals. Shortly after childbirth, the only persons who are permitted to touch or even see newborns, in Urhobo culture, are the parents and grandparents. After three months, there is an outing where the rest of the family and friends are allowed to see and play with the child. This is also where the naming ceremony takes place.

Urhobo names are very significant and rich in meaning. In Urhobo culture, names are much more than identification or tags. Many Urhobo names adduce supernatural or sacred significance. It is not abnormal for an Urhobo child to be given a name that connotes a ‘challenge’, ‘celebration’ or ‘appreciation’. A lot of Urhobo names imply ‘honour’ or ‘philosophical question’. Others may be given names to mark ‘special events’ or ‘day’.
Urhobo culture never permits the counting of children.

SOURCES OF URHOBO HISTORY PART 2....

3) Records from Superior courts( Courts of records).

Yesterday I gave 2 sources of Urhobo HISTORY that are with, your GOVERNMENT
I told you about the 1) The British Colonial Intelligence reports before independence and 2) The 3 Commission of inquiries set up by the Military Government between 1967-1972, to review these British Intelligence reports and Harmonize them with the Oral Traditions of the People on as at that time, I told you of the Orewa Commission, Patridge Commission and Patrick Commission.

Today I will tell you another veritable Source of Urhobo history with the Government archives, this time, with the Judicial arm of the Government...and it has to do with the records from our Courts, either our Colonial Native Courts, our Present day High courts, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

By Nature the Urhobo man is a litigant, being a republican people, matters were settled in Village courts and Councils, and so they do well in advocacy, writing on the Agbon people, Chadwick in 1929 noted the "Agbor sobo people will do exceedingly well in legal advocacy".
The Urhobo people have the highest numbers of Lawyers in Nigeria on POPULATION TO RATIO BASIS
This was because in early days of Colonialism they saw the legal Profession as a tool to win their lands back.
So if you go to the Nearest high court to you or the high court closest to your Community in those days, you must see at least one case involving your Community and Neighbouring Community on land boundary disputes or Cases between different parties in Your Community.
In these cases you will discover what your own ancestors said about the founding of your Community. They will state the Original FOUNDERS or founder of your Community.

One thing about this Source of history, the Historical claims are usually Subjected to thorough and critical examinations and cross examinations by Intelligent Lawyers, and so if the HISTORY has not been tested before, it will pass through fire. It is here that myths are separated from Realities, facts from fictions and fairy tales from HISTORY.
And once a Judge becomes convinced of a Particular HISTORY and used that to form his basis of arriving at his Judgement, then that HISTORY becomes the LEGAL HISTORY OF YOUR COMMUNITY, until a higher court reverses it

Example. In 1942, the The Okpe Urhobo people of Sapele in Present day Sapele L.G..A, led by Chief Ayomanor Evwida, the then Clan head of the Okpe people took the Itsekiris to Court over their claims of Ownership of Sapele Township lands
In defending their claims of How the Itsekiris founded Sapele, the Itsekiri star witness, Chief William Moore gave this HISTORY.

"According to him, When Ginuwa left Benin to to this direction to found his own Kingdom, he left with a large company of sons, daughters and Slaves of Benin Chiefs...Amongst the company was his own Sister called PRINCESS OYEFO. Princess OYEFO was heavily pregnant, and so the stress of the Wanderings was telling on her. So she decided to rest in the village of EFUROKPE, to give birth to her child.
But Ginuwa and the rest could not wait for her, so they left her there in EFUROKPE, with her servants, slaves and bodyguards.
Eventually she put to birth but the child was a STILL BIRTH.
So she left EFUROKPE, but could not locate the direction his brother Ginuwa journeyed to, So she decided instead to found her own Town...So she went to Sapele deforested the place and founded it.

Under cross examinations by Lawyers Nelson Williams and Ernest Egbune....one simple question flawed this beautiful HISTORY.

And this is the Question.:
Did Princess OYEFO and her Party later have children and descendants??
Answer: Yes.
Question: So these Children are the Itsekiris of Sapele today??
Answer: Yes.
Question: And so when Chief Dore Numa acted as an Agent to lease the lands in 1908 , the lease was made on "Behalf of the Chiefs and People of Sapele", is that not so
Answer: Yes.
Question: So the Chiefs of Sapele as at 1908, Presumably are descendants of this Princess OYEFO and are Itsekiris, is that not so
Answer: Yes.
Question: But the Gazetted Chiefs of Sapele by the Government in 1908 Were Chiefs Ogodo, Ayomanor, Omarin, Ekariko, Abeke, Eyefia, Ofomala, Asagba, Baminobichi, Eherewo, and Obomiekwe and these are all Ukpe sobo Chiefs, descended from Orerokpe their mother city,... how come not single descendant of OYEFO or any Itsekiri Chief was among them??
Answer: PAUSED.

He has been cornered, it was a fabricated history,....
At this point Olu Ginuwa II angrily left the court room, he knows William Moore Goofed big time

When giving Judgement, Judge Jackson dismissed the HISTORY as '"An Imagination from the fertile brain of that self styled Itsekiri historian William Moore, WITHOUT ANY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE".

And so the Okpes were made to give their own HISTORY....I have told it many times before on my timeline...You can search for it.
So the records of Our courts also contains the accurate history of your Community as told by your Ancestor.
You can also search for the history of Okere in Warri city as decided by the Supreme court on my timeline.

Tomorrow I will tell you the next Source of Urhobo history that is with your GOVERNMENT....And that is Legislative Public hearings or Commission of Inquiries set up by Government during Communal crisis and boundary disputes......Your ancestors who appeared before these commissions also narrated your history before them.

The fall of Ancient Warri city in 1848.

Written by Ejiro Imuere

In the year 1848, there was a civil War in the ancient city of Warri ( ode Itsekiri).
The War was occasioned by the death of the longest ever reigning Monarch of the Itsekiri throne . He was no other than the Great Olu Akengbuwa.
After his death, his 2 sons who were to inherit the throne from him died mysteriously within a space of short time. According to William Moore, there was a metaphysical reason for this, he disobeyed the instructions of an ifa oracle, that will be a story for another day.
Once these 2 Princes died, there was Tension and apprehension in the city of Warri ( ode Itsekiri). This was because the Slaves, servants and bodyguards of these 2 Princes were so Powerful before now, thinking that their masters would Succeed the throne.

But being dead, they felt Threatened, that whosoever will ascend the throne , would reduce their Powers.
So 7 of these Head slaves called Orolukus, waged a Terrible War against the other Olu family and the Itsekiri Nobles....I have given you their names before last year in one of my stories, you can search for it on my timeline.
They mobilized most of the slaves in the city under their control and chased the Nobles out of the city.
The affairs of the Kingdom now fell into the hands of Princess Iye whom the British recorded as Princess Dola.
She fled from Ancient Warri city ( Ode Itsekiri) to a Place called Bobi, where she started controlling part of the Kingdom.
Other Nobles, like Diare, Chanomi, Olomu e.t.c fled and Founded various settlements along the BENIN River like Jakpa and Ebrohimi.

So with time because there was no longer any Traditional Government in Ode Itsekiri, the Word " Warree" went into oblivion.
The word Itsekiri, resurrected again
This is the Reason why Nana the greatest Itsekiri hero ever was and is reffered to as Nana of Itsekiri, instead of Nana of Warri. Because he did not operate from, Warri at all. Warri was deserted.
The Itsekiri Treaty of 1884 was not signed in Ode Itsekiri it was signed in the BENIN River.
It was called Itsekiri Treaty of 1884 instead of the Warri Treaty of 1884.
Even Chief Dore Numa was described as Chief Dore Numa of Benin River not Chief Dore Numa of Warri.

RESTORATION OF ANCIENT WARRI IN 1891.

In the Year 1891, the British restored the ancient city of Warri, (Ode Itsekiri,) by establishing a Consular office there.
It became the first Colonial office. It started coming back alive.

Between 1892-1894 the British went to many Urhobo and Ijaw settlements of the PRESENT WARRI CITY TO SIGN THEIR OWN TREATIES WITH THEM

Recall the Itsekiri Treaty was already signed in the BENIN River, in 1884.
On arriving Warri ( ode Itsekiri) in 1891, the British discovered many autonomous and independent Communities that are not Itsekiris
So the Itsekiri Treaty signed with Nana and other leading Itsekiri chiefs could not be applicable to them. So Fresh Treaties were signed in these Settlements WHICH BY 1908, BECAME THE NUCLEUS OF THE PRESENT WARRI CITY ( Ogbe Ijoh, Agbassa and Igbudu).

1) Ogbe-Ijoh Treaty of 1893
2) Agbassa Treaty of 1893
3) Igbudu Treaty of 1893
4) Ogunu Treaty
5) Ejebba Treaty
6) Isaba Treaty.
7) Ogbe Sobo ( Aladja) Treaty
8).Obodo ( Orhuwhorun) Treaty
9) Asagba ( Ovwian) Treaty.
10) Eferoun( Effurun) Treaty.
11) Tori( Ekpan ) Treaty.
12) Boroke( Ugboroke) Treaty.

As you can see the British Colonial Treaties signed in all these Communities in and around the Present Warri city, was not signed with any Itsekiri Community.

We should ask ourselves Why??

In conclusion, the only Place called Warri in ancient times was Ode Itsekiri. It did never extended to Agbassa, Igbudu, Edjeba Ogunu, and Okere.
Once the City went into a state of Interregnum, the word Warri also went into oblivion.

So to the Europeans it was the king of Warree ruling over the Itsekiri KINGDOM.
Ancient Warri was Ode Itsekiri, Ugborodo was escravos, Ugborodo was never called Warri, Ogulagha was Forcadoes, Forcadoes was never call Warri. Warri then was a city not a KINGDOM. Warri ( ode Itsekiri) was the Capital city of Itsekiri kingdom.

I no say some people dey vex...but if we nor talk the truth wetin we go gain??

River Ethiope of Urhobo land the Fact and the Truth.

1) The Fact : At a point 60 miles from the sea, the Benin River, divides into 2 branches. In the year 1840, during his explorations of the Benin river, JOHN BEECROFT, named the Southern branch, leading to the Urhobo country " ETHIOPE"., after " Ethiope" the 30 horse power Craft ( engine house boat), which he used for the voyage. The craft belonged to his employer, Mr. Robert Jamieson, a West African merchant of Glasgow.

A year before, in 1839, Mr. Jamieson had named the Northern branch , Jamieson' after himself.

2) The Truth: Before Mr John Beecroft, changed the name to Ethiope River, the Urhobo people called it "Urhie apele". Meaning Sea or River of Apele.

This happened around 1800, about 40 years before John Beecroft discovered it.

Between 1780 to 1800, the Okpe Urhobo people of Delta state, following 2 violent revolutions, deserted their mother city, which they burnt down to the ground.
They deserted their mother city Orerokpe to found other Towns and villages.
Among the Many deities worshipped in Ancient Orerokpe( called Adane Okpe) was a Deity called Apele, worshipped by the Orhue family only.
During this Mass desertion Onoje the Chief Priest of Apele, evacuated the shrine and journeyed to the the Present day Sapele by the Sea, together with his 2 other Priests attendants named Ovwighodua and Iyeghale, they established the shrine near the big River, and thus named the Big River Urhie Apele.....
So before the White man came Ethiope River had a name.
Jamieson who named the other branch after himself also usurped the rights of the Oghara people... Because it is Oghara River.

Note: The word Sapele is a British corruption of the word Urhie Apele.

Know your history today....My last historical lesson for this year.
Next will be my first historical lesson for the New year, which is the Origin of the word Aka as used by the ancient Urhobo people to describe Ancient Benin city

Happy New year.

SNAP SHOTS ON OWA-OYIBU HISTORY.

Owa kingdom is the largest in Ika North East ,local government area of Delta state ,it lies in the rain forest belt of Nigeria
The kingdom is bounded in the west by Agbor ,East by Umunede,Otolokpo and Ute-Okpu ,South by Abavo and south east by Idumuesah.Owa has a satellite town Owa-Alidinma on Umutu-Umunede road.
It is also important to note that some owa communities are in Edo state ,such as Iru-Egbede formerly known as Owa-Iru ,Owanikeke and owa ri uzor idu. .

Structure of the kingdom
Owa kingdom is made up of the following towns ,which has many villages.-

1. Owa -Oyibu Headquarters of Owa kingdom ,which incidentally is also the headquarters of Ika North East local govt.

2. Owa-Alero
3.Owanta -Idumuetor
4. Owa -Ekei
5. Owa-Ofien
6. Owa-Alizomor
7. Owa-Alidinma
8. Bojiboji-Owa ( which belongs to Owanta ).

These towns have well defined boundaries, yet they enjoy a close tie with one another .

Various Oral traditions on the founding of Owa-Oyibu.

1.At about the 8th century AD , a man called Oyibu and his followers from Benin area during the reign of the Ogisos ,when there was tumoil in the land ,and he founded Oyibu. .Later some migrants from Esan cane ,then followed by some from Okpe and Ekwueze in Abavo ,and Ndokwa .and those from Nri ,in Anambra state .,and some igala
Towards the end of the 12th century AD, there was a kingship tussle in Ute-Okpu between Edogun(Odogun) and his junior brother Okpu and this led to the migration of Odogun ,a prince and warlord ,who previously fought in the Royal Army of the Oba of Benin.Odogun migrated to Owa with a retinue of soldiers ,slaves and servants ,after wondering in the forest ,he came out at a place called Ihun-Odogun in oyibu .Prior to leaving Ute-Okpu ,he was said to have taken away ,his father's war charms and deity called Ajan - wind god.The deity which he installed in Owa-Oyibu and he also stuck his staff Otsun -erunmu at Ihun-Odogun.when Odogun got to oyibu ,he found a thriving community, with a leader called Edo-Agbedion and there was a thriving market in a place called Oli in imen-Oyibu. According to tradition ,Edo ruled oyibu from imen-Oyibu,some account said ,that ,Odogun killed Edo Agbedion to install his own leadership in Oyibu. Prior to Odoguns coming to Owa oyibu ,the place called Eku-Idu in ogbe -ohun was present ,and people lived in Idumu-izomor.
After conquering Oyibu ,Odogun went to subdue other communities in owa ,and brought them under his leadership .
Oral traditions had it that the Amuda family of Owa-Ekei were the rulers of Owa-Ekei ,until Odogun came and subdued Ogbasogun ,the last ruler of Owa-Ekei.

Odogun tried to conquer ofien community but could not and so he used subterfuge to defeat the ofien people and later they were later placed under his rulership .
Oral traditions say that ,the case was taken to the Oba of Benin and the matter was resolved in favour of Odogun and the ofien people were given the Olihe-Ovia title.

An important thing about ofien community is that ,they are the oldest community in Owa-Kingdon ,whose date is around the 5th century AD ,Whose ancestors were said to have migrated from Ikhoha in Ovia ,in Benin.
The work of bringing the various communities in Owa under the kingdom ,was continued to a great extend by Obi Igbedigin igborgbor.

Oral viewpoints about Odoguns Origin.

1. Some oral stories say that Odogun was the son of ijueh ,the Obi of ute-Okpu ,and that ,ijue was said to be from Nri in Anambra area of igbo land, that settled in ute-Okpu with his followers, and that later some elements from Edo migrated to Ute.

2. Another version of the story was that ijue was a chief of the Oba of Benin ,who ran away with his wives and followers ,during the reign of a tyrannical king in Benin ,they got to a thick forest where a lot of monkeys reside ,on learning that Ijue had run away ,the Oba of Benin sent soldiers to being them back ,and so the soldiers got to the forest where ijue and his people were hiding but ,the monkeys put their foot prints on the sand and this misled the soldiers who could no longer detect ,where they hid themselves ,and so ijue and his people were saved and so they made a vow that none of their descendants will ever eat a monkey. So this became a taboo for Owa -Oyibu people .

Scholarly views on Ute-Okpu.
Some owa and ute elders believe that ,as at the time of ijueh in Ute-Okpu,,that ,there was a considerable migration of people from Nri ,in igbo land ,as well as migrations from the Edo area .

The British intelligence report on owa kingdom in 1913 and 1921 ,states that ,Owa kingdom possess a dual mode of migration :that of Edo and igbo .
