I never would have thought I’d be approached about my Abortion Buffer Zone legislation at the U.N. Status of Women Commission — a body dedicated to the rights of women, girls and gender diverse folks, including reproductive justice — by an anti-choice protestor, but here we are.
Folks have a right to their personal beliefs about abortion. But your personal belief can’t infringe on the rights of citizens. As a Legislator, I have a responsibility to protect Manitobans’ access to healthcare.

Solving the climate crisis means democratizing the just transition. It’s more than reducing carbon emissions. We need to tackle the structural inequities, xenophobia, and racism that exist in today’s society.
In case you missed it, @GloriaWalton and @MarkRuffalo joined @kevinbacon on his new @SixDegreesofKB podcast to talk about climate justice solutions created by frontline communities. Check out the full episode at the link in our bio!

🚨This is not a drill 🚨! On August 20th, Ecuadorians have the power to push out Big Oil from one of the world’s most biodiverse places, the Yasuni forests in the Amazon.
Don’t let this be another win for corporate greed and destruction. Showing solidarity with Indigenous activists in #Ecuador is solidarity with the planet!
Share this post with your friends and family! We must all say #YestoYasuni! #SiAlYasuni

[A D] Zombies were real.
Not the brains-eating kind. But real nonetheless.
They were ensl*ved people in Haiti, and that gave birth to the North American zombie genre we know today.

If you didn’t know, when Haiti was known as Saint-Domingue, it was the richest colony in the Caribbean, leading in sugar, coffee, indigo, cacao, and cotton production on the backs of enslaved West Africans.
And then sadly, colonizers did everything they could to cripple them.

Here’s the translation of the section of the “Les Codes Haïtiens Annotés”
“Is considered a poisoning any attempt on the life of a person through the use of substances which can cause death more or less cleanly, regardless of the manner in which these substances were used or administered, and regardless of the consequences.
Is also considered attempt on life by poisoning the use made against a person of substances which, without giving death, will cause a more-or-less prolonged state of lethargy, regardless of the manner in which these substances were used and regardless of the consequences.
If the person was buried as a consequence of this state of lethargy, the attempt will be considered a murder.”

Listen to Rep @aoc question Enduring Resources about the 2019 spill
When more than 1,400 barrels of fracking slurry mixed with crude oil had drained off the wellsite owned by Enduring Resources and into a snow-filled wash.
From there, that slurry – nearly 59,000 gallons – flowed more than a mile downstream toward Chaco Culture national historical park before leaching into the stream bed over the next few days.
Rep @aoc speaking during this week’s House Natural Resources Committee Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources.
