💜SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN FOR ISSUE 3 💜
Happy new year 🎉 We’re setting out to release two issues of Shout Cry Yell in 2022, and submissions are now open for our third issue, theme: ritual and tradition.

As always, we welcome broad interpretations of our themes, and we consider any creative submissions - written or visual - that can be printed on a page.

You can find our submissions page on our website (link in bio), and our DMs are always open for questions and expressions of interest.

Taking a moment to feel proud of the two issues of Shout Cry Yell published in 2021 💅

As an editorial team who started this year with minimal experience, it feels incredible to look back at how much we’ve learned since embarking on this project, and at the many voices of friends and strangers we’ve brought together to make these issues.

There’s nothing quite like flicking through the crisp pages of a perfect bound print magazine 😍

After staring at the pages of our second issue on a screen for many months, we were excited to finally receive 100 copies from the printer last week, and to see the art inside and outside brought to life in print.

Preorders have already been sent out to their new homes, and you can now buy copies through our website shop (link in bio!).

Print copies have (finally!) arrived, and preorders have now been sent off to their new homes. We’ll be posting some pictures of our print copies tomorrow, but in the meantime here is a peak into the contents of issue 2!

No matter how disruptive these past two years have been, they gave us time to reflect, to feel and to create. In SCY issue 2, we are proud to feature an array of visual explorations of home rendered through painting, illustration, graphic design, photography, and more.

We are still (not so 😩) patiently waiting for copies of issue 2 to be returned from the printers, but something else exciting has arrived…
You can now buy art prints from some of our talented contributors to issue 1 from our online shop (link in bio)! These pieces really do deserve to be up on a wall, not just closed inside a magazine.
The print you see here is from our cover artist .000. Amy is a multidisciplinary artist who makes zines as well as working with 3D animation and video. Her shop, portfolio and contact details can be found on her site amygough.com

🎆 Issue 2 is with the printers and available to preorder from our shop! 🎆

When we started Shout Cry Yell earlier this year, we set out to distil young people’s experiences of the pandemic into a tangible chronicle. With issue 2, we hope to build on those foundations, working under a theme that became an all-too-familiar feature of lockdown life: home.

With borders, offices and public spaces all closing, there are few people who won’t have had their relationships to home changed by the pandemic, and these varied relationships are what issue 2 explores.

From thinking about migration to our bodies as home, to finding our homes within q***r communities, board games and the natural world, this issue looks not only at the roof over your head and the ground beneath your feet, but the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that make up our sense of home.

We collaborated with nearly 30 contributors from different creative disciplines to produce this issue, and you can now preorder a copy from our online shop (link in bio).

💜 Collab announcement 💜

We are so pleased to announce that issue two of Shout Cry Yell will feature an illustrated personal essay by writer and body-acceptance advocate, Jessica Still.

By recounting her own journey towards self-acceptance, Jessica’s writing holds a lens up to the complicated relationships we can have with the place each of us will live in for the longest: our bodies.

We look forward to sharing her work with you when our second issue hits the (virtual) shelves of our shop on November 1st.

A bit about Jessica:

Jessica (she/her) is a London-based writer and body-acceptance advocate who strives for positivity and sunshine in all that she does. Her main goal is to break down the stigma surrounding weight and make the world a little better because of it. In her spare time she cries over pretty musicians, scrolls endlessly through Tik Tok, and stares adoringly at her new puppy, Raffa (even when he’s gnawing on her finger with his shark-like teeth).

So our two week summer break from Instagram turned into a couple of months...oops!

We are finally back and and we have exciting news: 💜 SHOUT CRY YELL ISSUE 2 will be released 01/11/2021 💜

We have collaborated with over 30 writers and artists to create an issue exploring the theme of home. We asked our collaborators to be as creative as they liked with this theme, and the resulting body of work explores a rich array of topics. From q***r communities to diasporic experience, their relationships with their home towns to their relationships with their bodies, and housing insecurity to the environment, we are incredibly proud of the work that these wonderful creatives have produced for this issue.

Over the coming weeks, we will be announcing some of our exciting collaborations and posting some tasters of what SCY2 has in store, so watch this space!
