Taylor here from Healing In Hindsight®.

I want to take you back to where it all started. Originally, this platform was born from my personal journey with diabetes. It was about sharing experiences, challenges, and victories to help others navigate this complex condition.

But as we’ve grown together, I’ve realized there’s so much more to our stories. 🌈💪

Big changes are coming as we expand beyond diabetes to embrace holistic wellness, identity exploration, and entrepreneurship.

More details coming soon! 🔔👀

I'm literally in tears 😭

My A1c came back today at 5. 4%. I wasn't expecting it to be this low after my medication was lowered and this past month with no longer being on hormonal birth control and switching around my ADHD medication.

But here I am.

It's a reminder to care for myself and my mental health, be mindful of the decisions I make, and focus on my overall wellness.

I’ve been quiet trying to find balance. Trying to figure out where I want to take the show and honestly a little fearful that getting to this point would mean that I wouldn’t have anything to talk about.

I didn’t follow a strict plan. My eating hasn’t been the best. My weight has been up and down. I literally said today that I gained back some of the weight I had been so proud to finally lose.

Granted my goal is to have these numbers without any medication one day. But to have so many doubts going in to do my labs and it comes back as this says that I’ve been managing without compromising living.

After all, my health and happiness matter the most! 💛

I’m still wrestling with where to take things but know that I’ve been deeply meditating on where I want this brand to go and what I want to mean in the world.

Our lives go beyond diabetes. I want the healing process from learning from our past to reach beyond any diagnosis.

I’ll have more soon but couldn’t wait to share this.

If you’re gonna make a comeback make it big! 😎

This has been literally months in the making but I’m a cover girl now but make it diabetes. From the photoshoot to the interview to patiently waiting to see it all come together, nothing can truly describe how I feel.

Never thought that this would be how I would show up in the world. Even so I’m proud as hell. Although my spicy brain is trying to down play this and say it’s nothing special because there’s so much more I could be doing, I’m not allowing that voice space today.

I deserve to be happy about this moment.

Thank you to for allowing me the chance to share my story.

Excuse me while I do my lil celebration dance 🤭🖤

PS. Life updates and new episodes are coming I promise. Life got a lil crazy in a good way 💍👀🤭

Fun fact: Not only am I a proud black woman ✊🏽, but I’m also Thai 🇹🇭 as well!

Before the wave of Thai restaurants popping up everywhere, I was already having my fill of green curry, sticky rice, and Tom Kha. It’s a huge part of my identity especially when it comes to what I eat.

So how does diabetes fit in? Can I even still have Thai food?? 🤔

Yes!

Today I share my guide to enjoying your cultural foods with diabetes over at . It’s important that we expand our food choices past the standard American diet. Diabetes can be a lot easier to handle if we’re able to eat the foods we know and love from the countries our families came from.

Everyone has something to say about what people with should eat 😒

New diet trends bombard our feeds regularly. If there’s anything I’ve learned in the 6 years I’ve lived with type 2, it’s that the way you eat is just as unique as you are. Cookie cutter nutrition doesn’t work anymore. Your environment is completely different from mine. What you have access to might not be available to me.

In my latest article for I share key things I’ve learned about the realities of eating with type 2 diabetes.

I’ll give a hint: it’s not as black and white as many people seem to think 😉

There are reasons why Black women are hesitant with the healthcare system.

The biggest reason, in my opinion, is because it can be hard to find someone who listens to us. For many Black women with diabetes like myself, there's deep distrust, anxiety, and fear. We often have to fight to get what we need. Despite this, I’ve learned to fight back and take charge. I share some key advice based on my experiences in my first article for Healthgrades because it’s important for all Black women to know that diabetes or not, we have the power.

How do we put ourselves first when living with a chronic illness? - What if you are living with a chronic illness and it's making everything else in your life difficult? How can we put ourselves first when there is so much to do, such as taking care of our families, going to school or work? In this episode, I chat with health coach and fellow podcaster Lissie Poyner who has diabetes and Crohn's. She shares her journey of balancing the demands on her time and how she learned that putting herself first was not selfish but necessary for her health. She now coaches others living with diabetes on how to do the same.

How you talk to yourself matters right?

I’ve been thinking through a lot when it comes to my body. Diabetes is for sure stressful and complicated.

I thought about all the times I would get upset about my blood sugar spiking. All the meds and shots.

I remember moments where even if it was in my head I would wish for a different body. I would curse at it.

“Ugh why TF are you so complicated?!”
“I can’t eat anything!”
“Great diabetes has validated how medically fat I am. F**k this useless body!”

I know I can’t speak diabetes away. But what if how I speak to myself for my mental health is the same principle for my physical health?

What if we said “thank you body for waking up today” instead of assuming our bodies SHOULD just function?

How can I trust my body if I do nothing to build confidence that with the right tools WILL operate for OUR success?

Just a thought I had.

Nov 19th made 6 years living with diabetes.

In the past year I started my own company and this show. Worked for myself for 6 months. Got a new job because of my show as well as some help. But even with all that I was hitting a wall. So things got behind.

Lately I've felt lost. Unbalanced. Unmotivated. Completely exhausted. I felt disconnected. I ended up sick for almost 2 weeks. I even lost my voice.

It was in this moment that I had time to myself to Rest, reconnect, and realize my limits as well as what i wanted.

there's a lot coming. Changes for the better. Deeper conversations and so much more. I feel renewed and I thank you for your patience.

Thank you to my friends over at dQ&A for the great info that's provided in a couple of the episodes.

Life with diabetes can be overwhelming. Sometime it feels like you have no control over your body. Add to that everyone has an opinion on how you should manage it. Especially when it comes to what you eat. As someone who grew up with southern cooking AND Thai cooking, the idea of letting go of my cultural favorites is heartbreaking. Many people across the world experience the same.

But what if there is a way to enjoy your cultural foods and still manage your blood sugar? That’s where Dione from the Prediabetes Nutrition Support for Women comes in. As someone who has lived with pre-diabetes previously and is a registered dietician, she asked herself, “there has to be a better way right?”

I sit down with Dione to learn how she’s helping so many people become Blood Sugar Bosses and you can be too!

We talk about:

🍬 Debunking the carb myth
🍬 The Blood Sugar Boss Coaching program

Sugar has taken over the world. It's literally been compared to being just as addictive as hard drugs. So how do we combat the impact of sugar yet still feel like we can enjoy it in moderation?

That's where Scarlett comes in. As the Co-founder and CEO of Sugarbreak , her team has worked hard to create a lineup of products that help reduce the amount of sugar you absorb, promote stable blood sugar, or curb that sweet craving.

I had an amazing chat with Scarlett and she was gracious enough to offer all listeners a discount for trying Sugar Break.

Be sure to tune in for 15% off!
