"The first of this month's freebies is another one of my funky reboots of an oldie - this time it's the absolutely wonderful Till You Take My Love by Harvey Mason. I've got huge love for this track and play it regularly, but it's very short and I really don't like the key change, so it ends up being even shorter. So I've fixed all that and given it a little spruce up with some beefier bass, crispy percussion and judicious use of echo. It's funky, free… a gift from me!"

PREMIERE: Ferris Statler - Make It Soon [Stereo 09 Records]

Straight outta Berlin comes this premiere from a new and exciting label simply named Stereo 09 Records, who are keeping it simple and tight from the get go, naming their first EP "Stereo 01", a release comprised of tracks from Ferris Statler, Ateş Sönmez, SamOne, Parisienne, Adrian Ernst, Hyper Hugo and Nein Oh Nein.

Ferris Statler has crafted a true slow-burner with his house romper, "Make It Soon." By dialing back the tempo, he has injected a deeper, chunkier vibe into the track, enhancing its richness and texture. "Make It Soon" exemplifies how slowing down the pace can elevate a house track, creating an immersive and resonant experience for listeners. Ferris Statler's approach in this track underscores the power of a deliberate tempo in shaping the essence of house music.

Stereo 09 Records was born early this year, founded by a tight-knit group of music devotees. Their passions span across different sonic realms: some members are deeply immersed in the dub and minimal scenes, others are captivated by the groove of disco and funk edits, and a few are rooted in the soulful beats of old-school Detroit and Chicago house. Despite these varied tastes, their collective heart beats in unison to the rhythm of house music.

Relatively new to this vibrant scene, with all founders having been born around the turn of the millennium, the journey to curate their first compilation wasn't without its challenges. In Berlin, where the pulsating allure of trance, techno, and industrial music captivates many of their peers, Stereo 09 Records carved out a different path. They sought something slower, more surprising, and undeniably alternative.

This compilation marks their inaugural step into releasing music and cultivating a community that resonates with their sound. The tracks they’ve assembled from friends form a cohesive and exciting debut, standing as a solid 001.

To celebrate this milestone, Stereo 09 Records invites everyone to join them for their release party on the 19th of July at LARK, Berlin. This event marks the beginning of their journey and offers a chance to experience the unique vibe they’re bringing to the scene. More details here.

The chilled restaurant vibes were soon interrupted by a head-nodding clientele singing, “Lady G***a!” So, a big shout out to whoever that DJ was! The edit was stemmed, split, and replayed in parts, with new drum intros, added thickness, and low-end chugg! Enjoy!
