Nominees are chosen by the AMPS voting members, who are sound peers. The ballot to decide the winner will open shortly, and the winner will be announced on Saturday 12th February 2022. The nominated films all reflect the highest standards for film soundtracks. Sponsors of the awards are Dolby Laboratories, Sennheiser, Twickenham Film Studios and University of Greenwich.

Commenting on the nominations, AMPS Chair, Andrew Wilson said: “It’s great to see this year’s awards once again featuring a varied and international mix of nominees. The AMPS voting members recognise craft excellence above everything and any one of the nominated films would be a worthy winner. Congratulations to all the nominees, and we look forward to announcing the winner.”

The first year that the Oscars have presented a shortlist for sound, just two years after merging the awards for sound mixing and sound editing. It seems not to be raising any glaring issues so far as the 10 features to make the cut are all respected entries and worthy of a nomination. Still got a few to see myself. Not sure I can bring myself to watch a Marvel film though. 🙈. I may have to suffer that one.
