I can confirm that it is worth it 🥹
Our last backpacking trip has change the way I live my life. That’s how much it changed me as a person. The way I see life and the things I value most in life. The way I love, and the way I choose to love. How I spend my time and who I give me time to.
Travel really dose change you in so many ways, that can NEVER be taught in a classroom. Or by anyone. You need to get out there, you just need to grab your backpack and explore this limitless world we live in.
Don’t stress or waste your time/ energy on useless sh** and people that don’t ‘value your opinion’ (wow that for personal).
Go live your life, it’s too precious not to!

Controversial but…
50/50 Philippines 🇵🇭
Ok so here I go… there is always a country that you visit that just doesn’t meet a certain expectation. This is because everyone loves to share the positives but never the negatives.
Don’t get me wrong (that’s why it’s 50/50), I loved the Philippines- I would love to go again. I just know next time I would plan ahead and have a bigger budget.
So these are the negatives to expect when visiting this beautiful paradise.
❌Extra charges everywhere- so many that it kinda felt like fraud. The government workers are aggressive about it. Waking up at 5am for someone to shout ‘everyone 100 pesos’, this happened multiple times on the same island. Can this not just be added to ticket prices to make it a more pleasant experience?
❌Food- it was so hard to find any kind of authentic Filipino food. Everything is so westernised and overpriced.
❌Accommodation- our budget per night was £20 pushing to £30 a night. We struggled to find anything for this price and the places were very questionable for what we paid. If we didn’t start the trip under budget we would have had to cut our trip short.
❌Accessibility- would have loved to visit more places in a month, but due to limited travel methods we couldn’t. It’s a lot more difficult than you can imagine. One flight/ ferry/bus a day books up fast -which makes it impossible to be spontaneous.
❌INTERNET- I just don’t know 🥹 WiFi didn’t work, our sim networks didn’t work. We had to screen shot google maps and improvise most of the time, but mainly counted on my photographic memory (which didn’t disappoint).
If you have visited the Philippines let us know if you agree…
There are so many places to be discovered in the Philippines but I strongly advise you to at least spend 2 weeks on each island to enjoy it fully!
P.S. we love you Philippines and we will be back when we have a bigger budget ❤️

Why backpack south east Asia? | what to expect in south east Asia | how to backpack south east Asia | budget backpacking | experience south east Asia
…coz if we don’t leave this town, might never make it out.
👩🏻🦱Hey I’m Hajj, back in early 2020 I was solo backpacking SEA, and after and incredible 7weeks I had to return home because of a global pandemic.
This was such a hard time for me as I had finally built up the courage to quit my job and and fly across the world with my little backpack.
💭I’m here to tell you, everything happens for a reason…
Serel and I had been friends for years, but during lockdown we got so close FaceTiming, going on walks and spending 1:1 time without anyone else around. We became inseparable.
👫🏻Our relationship was so new, but I had never felt like I knew someone better.
He knew from the start that my dreams were to get back out to SEA and continue my travels. And so through all the twists and turns, in January 2023 we few out to Bangkok, and had the most wonderful adventures for 5 months visiting 5 counties.
Do you want to know the most crazy part of it all was?
💫That once you feel so fulfilled about living out a dream, you start creating new ones! It’s a feeling I find so hard to describe, but you feel invincible, like no one can stop you!
❓What is stopping you right now from taking a leap for your dreams? What are you scared of?

🚆Travelling daily on the trains to commute is super affordable only £1-£3 per fare and you can just use your contactless card.
🏨 Don’t stay at Marian Bay Sands 🤣
We stayed at ‘Hotel by Wassies’ with a great location and a pool for £89 a night (£44.50 each)
🌳 Pick only one attraction to visit:
SuperTree Observatory £8.33 (would recommend as you get 360 views of the city).

MUST visit in Thailand 🇹🇭
Khao Sok National Park
Part 1
the MOST popular National Park located in the south of main land Thailand. Khao Sok National Park was established in 1980. the park consists of Cheow Lan Lake, majestic limestone cliffs, wildlife - with over 400 bird spices, thick native rainforest, caves and waterfalls.
🌲The rainforest in Khao Sok region is one of the oldest in the world, believed to be older than the Amazon. due to the fascinating history, there are still many undiscovered secrets.
From Khao Sok Town it takes around 1 hour via minivan to get to the entrance of Khao Sok Lake, it will then take around 45mins to get to the main areas of Cheow Lan Lake but during this time you will see the most beautiful landscapes.
⛅️Khao Sok is warm and humid all year round. Rainy season is between late April to early December with most rainfall - during this time you may need to swim through caves whilst exploring due to the higher tide.
Experiencing Khao Sok National park felt like we were living in a movie scene, and should be on everyone’s travel bucket list.
💸Fees:
National Park Fee: 300bht/ £6.77
Peir Fee: 20bht/£0.45
Out 1 Night Floating Bungalow Tour: 2,500bht/ £56

🗺️ 3 countries you NEED to visit as a backpacker & daily budget!
🇹🇭Thailand- £25- £30
The backpackers paradise, and it really is! Would highly recommend Thailand to any first time travellers as it is super easy to commute, adventure and enjoy in many ways. From tropical vibes and boat trips on the islands to the mountains and village life north of the country. Street food to die for only costing £2-£4 per meal.
🇮🇹Italy- £55-£65
Always a new place to visit, always a great social vibe! indulge in delicious Italian cuisine, and visit one of the world wonders, as well as marvel at ancient architecture. We visited Rome, Florence and Venice on this budget and had the best time. This includes train tickets through the cities as well as main attractions like the Colosseum and leaning tower of Pisa.
Where we stayed & price per night:
Rome: Habana’s Design £79
Florence: PLUS Florence Hostel - dorm room: £35 / double room £77
Venice: ANDA Venice Hostel - dorm Rooms: £26 / double room £97
🇻🇳Vietnam- £25
The ultimate county to travel from north> south (vice versa) and experience it all. The hustle and bustle of the two busy, yet incredibly cultural cities Hanoi and Saigon, along the way you will have the most diverse experience. Limestone cliffs, incredible viewpoints, bluest lagoons, village life, caves, beach life and so on.
This country is the definition of follow the locals for the best food because we were never disappointed!
💰Best value for money - we NEVER went over budget, stayed in the most beautiful hotels for £20 and under!
*Disclaimer: This was our average daily budget per person as a couple so room prices were split.*
What is your MUST backpacking county that you always recommend and think we should head to next?

This is Coron, Palawan 🇵🇭
One of the MOST popular destinations in the Philippines and definitely MUST visit!
Although the island itself is very small, it is known most for the breathtaking crystal clear waters and the unmissable boat tours.
💰We booked the ‘Ultimate Coron’ tour through Paradise View for 1,500php/ £21.50 each
Includes:
Lunch
Transfer from hotel
Snorkel gear
Entrance to all the parks (make sure this is included)
🌴Places we visited:
Kayangan Lake
Barracuda Lake
Twin Lagoons
Beach 91
Balinsasayaw Reef
Twin Peaks Coral Garden
⚠️ We we’re told that there would be no more that 15 people on our tour. When we arrived there was around 20+. We didn’t mind so much but after a lot of people started complaining they split the boats and we were lucky to be out on a smaller boat that only had 7 others - 9 in total. Then after fining out that others on that tour paid all different amounts 1,600-1,800php.
🍽️FOOD on Coron island: If you’re staying on the island make sure to eat at a local stop we dined at for 2 evenings and it was so delicious and affordable.
