Welcome to Christmas at the Taig’s!
Here’s a first look at our Elegant Red, Gold, and White Christmas trees.
We decorated an 8 foot flocked tree in our living room and a 12 foot flocked tree in our foyer. Normally I am a neutral Christmas decorator who tends to stray away from colorful ornaments or traditional colors, but this year I wanted to do something different. I added a pop of color, bordeaux red!
This completely took me out of my comfort zone, but I think it looks fabulous! You’ll notice I didn’t add any red florals, Christmas picks, or red decorative ribbon and that was completely intentional. I wanted this gorgeous Balsam Hill Bordeaux set to be the center of the show, while still keeping a fairly neutral base. For visual interest I added mercury glass ornaments and white ornaments which help meld the two colors together.
In this post I teach you how to replicate the process so that you can create a designer-like tree in your home too.

It’s soup season!
Let me introduce you to Italian Cannellini Bean Soup.
What I love about this recipe is that it's both hearty and healthy, packed with leafy greens, sauteed vegetables, white beans, and spicy Italian sausage.
The sausage is technically optional but similar to my Zuppa Toscana Soup, adds extra protein and so much flavor. For even more depth, we add to the stock a parmesan rind(or two) which is a classic Italian staple, and the juice of one lemon to brighten the soup.
To quote my best friend, "This soup tastes like something you'd get in an authentic Italian restaurant" which was exactly our goal.
