We often forget that music, physics and chemistry studies share the geometry of nature, best illustrated by frequency, vibration and energy. Mathematics is the root that ties them all together.

The rave scene has a famously DIY attitude to hard partying, but in Ukraine techno heads have taken things a step further by combining dance events with fixing up bombed-out buildings.

Repair Together drew 200 people from as far away as Portugal and the US to dance among the debris in the village of Yahidne, 87 miles north-east of Kyiv, where DJ Oleksandr Buchinskiy blasted out techno from turntables mounted on ammunition boxes.

Repair Together began initially by cleaning bomb sites without the backdrop of electronica, but later added the party element to draw in volunteers.

In Ukraine, DJs are spinning the vinyl in bombed-out buildings as part of a spirited effort to rebuild towns destroyed by Russian artillery

T***s Thielemans would be 100 today. Marc and I had a wonderful musical association with T***s spanning over 35 years. T***s was the first international jazz musician to record my songs Para Nada and Moments back in 1984 and that was the start of our playing together. We recorded and toured on several occasions with different ensembles including The Brazil Project (with Ivan Lins, Oscar Castro Neves, Dori Caymmi…) in the mid 90s. We continued playing together in special concerts including the very last time that he performed live when we celebrated his 90th. Beautiful memories …what a brilliant musician he was.
