Former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin now faces an additional murder charge in the death of George Floyd after a Hennepin County judge reinstated a charge of third-degree murder on Thursday.

Chauvin already faced charges of second-degree unintentional murder and second-degree manslaughter, and jury selection in his trial began Tuesday. He has pleaded not guilty. It's unclear if the new charge could impact the trial's expected start date of March 29.

Chauvin was initially charged with third-degree murder in the days after Floyd's death, but Hennepin County District Court Judge Peter Cahill dismissed the count in October, saying it did not apply to the circumstances of this case. The state appealed that ruling and the Minnesota Court of Appeals ordered Cahill to reconsider the motion to reinstate the charge last week.

The third-degree murder charge, sometimes known as "depraved mind" murder, was most recently used in the trial against former Minneapolis Police officer Mohamed Noor. He was convicted of the charge after prosecutors said he fired his gun at a person outside of his squad car's window, killing Justine Ruszczyk and endangering his own partner.

Fun fact about me, I like to be right. It’s probably cause I’m a Capricorn, but either way, I like to have my facts straight when I’m stating an opinion. Meaning usually I’ve done a tad research on something before I fully form an opinion. Doesn’t mean it might be right to you, but at least it’s based on facts, right???

The 2021 Grammy Awards have left the door open for Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak.

On Sunday, Mars tweeted an earnest appeal to the Recording Academy to perform at this Sunday’s show alongside .Paak, with whom he released a single, “Leave the Door Open,” in a new collaboration as Silk Sonic last week.

“Dear Grammys,” Mars wrote. “If you can see it in your hearts to allow two out of work musicians to perform at your show, we would appreciate it.”

It seems he was able to finesse a deal.

On Tuesday, the Recording Academy tweeted a sly response that appeared to be a legitimate offer.

”We have been trying to call you all week,” the Grammys wrote. “Have you changed your numbers? We would love for to make their TV debut at the . Are you free this Sunday night? Follow back and we will DM for details.”

A lawyer representing several women who have accused rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris of s*xual assault says he has had six more potential victims come forward after he sent a letter to officials in two states that called for a criminal investigation into the disturbing allegations.

“If I was a prosecutor, I’d have brought charges already,” New York-based attorney Tyrone A. Blackburn told The Daily Beast.

He is currently representing 11 accusers, including eight women who claim they were s*xually assaulted, drugged, or kidnapped by T.I., Tiny, or a member of their inner circle. Three other clients, including a male, allege the celebrity couple made “terroristic threats” toward them.

Piers Morgan, who prompted backlash and an investigation from the UK's media regulator over comments about Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Suss*x, will depart "Good Morning Britain," ITV abruptly announced Tuesday.

"Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain," ITV said in a short statement. "ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

Morgan did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Earlier in the day, Morgan walked off the "Good Morning Britain" set after he was skewered by a co-host for his criticism of Harry and Meghan.

After Oprah Winfrey's interview with Harry and Meghan — in which Meghan revealed she had previously had suicidal thoughts and said a royal family member had raised concerns about the skin tone of her child — Morgan made a number of comments lampooning the couple.

He said on Twitter on Monday that it was "just another reminder that anyone who criticizes Meghan Markle is deemed a racist bully."

Verzuz, the popular livestream music platform created by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, has been acquired by Triller Network, parent company of the Triller app.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Grammy Award-winning producers and entrepreneurs will also join the Triller Verzuz management team to help oversee music and other company strategies.

Financial details of the transaction weren’t disclosed. However, as a result, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz have become large shareholders in Triller Network and in turn have allocated part of their equity stake to the 43 performers who’ve appeared on Verzuz to date.

Performers coming aboard as shareholders and partners include John Legend, DMX, Alicia Keys, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Too $hort, Patti LaBelle, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, E-40, Bounty Killer, D’Angelo, Ludacris, RZA, The Dream, Babyface, Nelly, Jagged Edge, Fred Hammond, Jadakiss, Fabolous, Brandy, Monica, Gladys Knight, Boi-1da, Hit-Boy, Ne-Yo, Johnta Austin, Scott Storch, T-Pain, Lil Jon, DJ Premier, Mannie Fresh, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, 112, Kirk Franklin, Sean Garrett and D’Angelo.

Vanessa Bryant can obtain the names of four Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies who her lawyers allege in a lawsuit shared “unauthorized” photos of the site of the helicopter crash that killed her husband, Kobe Bryant, their daughter and seven others, a federal judge ruled Monday.

U.S. District Judge John F. Walter rejected an effort by Los Angeles County lawyers to keep the deputies’ names under seal in the lawsuit. They argued that releasing the names would make the deputies’ addresses and other personal information only a click away on the internet and that hackers could target them. The ruling means Vanessa Bryant’s lawyers can add the deputies’ names and details from the internal affairs investigation about their conduct to an amended complaint in her civil rights lawsuit against the county and the Sheriff’s Department led by Alex Villanueva.

The judge wrote that “Sheriff Villanueva’s promise to publicly release the [internal affairs bureau] report after the conclusion of the investigation undermines Defendants’ purported concern in the disclosure of the limited excerpts at issue here.” Local court rules give the county four days to appeal the ruling.
