Working in radio during the 90s, we all had the opportunity to send demos to incredible local and national brands. After one particular posting session, I was invited for interview at Atlantic 252. I got down to the final few at that time but unfortunately didn’t win the race. It didn’t stop me dreaming about what on air name I may have adopted. Even now, almost thirty years on, everyday household items inspire those fantasies 😂. Rich.

One of the areas we like to help with is assisting stations to get third-party partners to use their facilities. Radio Newark regularly invites local not-for-profit organisations to record and host their stories, and our Phil helps to make the tech magic happen.

On this months Newark SKC Podcast, Sensei Chris Walsh & Sensei Steve Walsh chat with Sensei Phil Raikes.

Back in the day, every potential new broadcaster who had managed to send a successful cassette demo to their local radio station had an opportunity to do a "demo tape" on-site. Here's the first "real" studio I used back in 1993. It's MFM and Marcher Sound in Wrexham (Marcher Gold studio). If you still have pics of your first time, share them with us. Phil.

Great to see one of these units still working well, nearly 20 years old now! Super vintage. What bits of tech have you got kicking about that are still useful every day?

Hi everyone. Here we are, a page to discuss every technical ni**le that small radio stations and podcast creators have. We are open to everything here, discussing hardware, software, cables, fuses, distribution, and things that crackle when they shouldn't!
