According to the National Coffee Association, 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿. No surprise there! While it may seem that the coffee craze has taken off in the last couple of years, it has been a popular drink since it’s creation in the 15th century; yes, both you and Joan of Arc enjoyed a steaming hot cup of coffee! ☕

The coffee plant was first discovered in the mountains of Ethiopia. There’s an old folk tale that rumors a farmer noticed after his goats ate from the coffee plant they would burst out with energy, leading him to discover the magic of the coffee bean! The people of Ethiopia later used coffee in religious ceremonies to help them stay awake and focused throughout the day of their festivities. Who knew Medieval Ethiopians and modern-day businessmen had so much in common?! 🤝

As coffee spread around the world, it’s popularity grew! The first public record of a business selling coffee was in 1475, not too long after coffee’s discovery, named Kiva Han in the Turkish city of Constantinople. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀! Coffee houses became centers of learning and intellect. Individuals would gather to learn, read, debate, perform, spread news, and most importantly enjoy the company of others. People took coffee very seriously even as early as the 15th century. In fact, in Turkey, it was a law that a woman could divorce her husband if he could not provide the necessary amount of coffee for the family. Imagine those wedding vows! 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁?

With over 400 billion cups of coffee being consumed each year, it is still extremely popular 546 years later. Today’s use of coffee isn’t really all that different from our ancestors. We still drink our daily cup of joe to get us out of our morning grog and enjoy it while catching up with old friends. Coffee shops are still hubs for creativity, business, and mental growth. Who would’ve known that a couple of goats with insomnia would lead to one of the most popular beverages of all time?! Next time you're enjoying your iced coffee remember that you’re practicing an ancient tradition.

If you’re someone who wears a uniform to work, you may be asked by your employer to change or cover up your uniform during out of work hours. Why, you may wonder? 🤷‍♀️ It’s because wearing a uniform with a logo, is essentially brand affiliation. Anything you do whilst wearing that logo, is a form of marketing and publicity; whether it’s good or bad! 👀

Brands keep this in mind, as they’re aware of how employees can market their business traditionally. However, are brands effectively considering how employees market their business online? It’s questionable! 🤔

During this digital era, we are now starting to see employee contracts that prohibit any affiliation with an employee’s personal social media accounts; for example, sharing a selfie whilst wearing a work uniform. We recommend this type of transparency, as an employee’s personal opinions that may be published, don’t always reflect the values of a brand they work for. It’s best to keep the two separates at times. 🚫

Unfortunately, that’s still not enough! You could be the best brand to purchase from judging by your social media, but the worst company to work for! Take The Ellen Show for example… ouch, was that joke too soon? 🤕 Remember, there are plenty of websites that employees can use to review their experience after working for you; and don’t try forcing them to write a great review when they first start their employment, they can always go back and update their review later on exposing you!

If you treat your employees with respect, and offer them a safe working environment then you’ll definitely receive appraise, and great marketing when they write reviews about your brand. Which all in all, is one of the best ways your employees can market your business! 👍

It’s alleged that TikTok is threatening the national security of the United States of America. Which makes us wonder, 𝗱𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗷𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?🤷 Unfortunately, not, we’re stuck with those videos for a while!

Essentially, Trump alleges that since TikTok is Chinese based it’s at the discretion to give away its user data; if the Chinese Government were to request it. However, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲? 🤔 Did we forget about the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica data breach? In case you forgot, it’s when Cambridge Analytica used private user data from Facebook without consent, for political advertising…𝗼𝗼𝗽𝘀!🙊

Now, we hear Microsoft is trying to purchase TikTok for billions of dollars; but then Instagram launched ‘Reels’ which is just a copycat of TikTok! It seems like there’s a bit of a ticking time bomb waiting to happen… pun totally intended btw! 😏

In 2019 we saw Instagram release its most controversial algorithm and UX changes, all with the intention for users to create meaningful content. Leaving a lot of people to wonder, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻? 🤔

Meaningful content is a subjective term; all Instagram really wants to do is create a platform where its users can source relevant content they are interested in. Therefore, businesses, influencers and digital marketers need to strategise in the way they create content. Previously, it was all about likes, follows and trendy hashtags with very minimal originality. 🙃

The ways in which you market your business can be a really tricky; 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀? 🤔 At the end of the day, you should market your business however you want; IF you know it’s going to attract the customers you desire.

You can read all the books in the world and analyse all the research that’s out there, but it won’t count for much if you don’t create the marketing plan that suits you and your brand.

Okay, so you get your first ever customer, what do you do next? It’s simple, you generate another sale from them! It doesn’t matter if you’re selling a product or a service, your current customers should be the stakeholders you invest the most in! It’s a common misconception that you should always be on the hunt for new customers, instead, it’s better to create a balance between both! ⚖️

𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗻! Coca Cola hasn’t changed their iconic taste, instead they build a product line surrounding it.

𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 & 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁; when we say invest in your current clientele, we don’t mean give them your money. We mean create new products or services they might be interested in and create a more immersive sales experience. Is there a special incentive you could create? A loyalty programs? Maybe even a subscription option if applicable? 🤷

𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆; if you don’t deliver a quality end product, you’ve lost what made you unique in the first place. It’s not about providing the bare minimum and charging a premium for it, we could’ve done that as a studio but chose not to because it’s not fair. Create a fair price and deliver a high-quality product, always!

𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀; check in when you can and stay in touch! Nowadays heaps of brands are maintaining customer relationships via social media, it’s way more effective than email marketing! 👏

𝗔𝗿𝘁:
Is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. A creation based on the personal interests of the artist and it’s open to interpretation by another. We see this in paintings, sculptures and music. 🎨

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻:
A creation that needs to solve a specific problem or offers a specific function; which overall acknowledges the end users experience and emotions, rather than the designers’ personal interests. We see this concept in architecture and garment making. 📐

Artists’ creations are based on rules of their own choice to communicate a unique vision of the world, which can be appraised or disputed by others. Whereas, designers personal taste has almost zero importance. Design is all about the end-user. That’s why feedback from clients is so important. There are many times in which you will hear a designer state they did not personally enjoy their clients end logo or product.

It can be appropriate for an artist to not listen to feedback and keep their ideas uncontaminated, as it directly reflects their personality. But designers who create content with the mindset of an artist can have a hard time receiving feedback. Many any brands that commission an artist will tolerate the untamed conceptualisation of an idea they may have; whereas, brands that commission a designer expect results and key elements to be accurately placed.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿, 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀:

Although designers and artists have similar yet different principles, they are both of high value! And when we see the two combine effectively, something beautiful can come to fruition.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱; the last thing you want is dishes piling up at work & paperwork piling up in your home! 😂 By staying organised you can maintain a healthy stress-free home environment for when you switch off after a long day of working remotely.

𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲; make it colourful, efficient and fun! A dedicated office or portion of a room will make it easy for you to forget you were working at home in the first place!

Without good content, your media game can be obsolete and ineffective; but if you have strong content, you’ll be sure to gain new customers and get leads to conversions and more beneficial things for your business. 👍

User experience mapping is the most important component of any digital product or service; whether that be a website or software. In our opinion anyone can create a user experience map, it just depends on how thoughtful you are; think of it as an online version of customer service! 🤯

For example, a great way to understand a users experience when visiting your website, is to create a visual map showcasing where their journey will start and end. By creating this map, you can eliminate initial challenges, and have the opportunity to ensure a user reaches your intended goal. ✔️

🖥️ Animation utilises computer technology; such as Autodesk 3ds Max, MAYA and lots more to create realistic appearing objects or characters!

🦁 Disney’s 2019 Lion King used no real animals; instead CGI, Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence was used to bring the virtual characters to life.

✋ Old school animation used stop motion as a method to make characters come to life. Stop motion is a filmmaking technique in which objects or characters are physically altered ever so slightly between photographed frames; making it appear that there is motion between characters or settings when played back

🤝 It takes a massive team! There’s not just one person doing it all, modern day animation requires hand drawn animators, 2D & 3D computer animators, stop motion animators, assistant animators and MUCH MORE!

🇫🇷 French artist Emile Cohl created the first animated film!

🚀 𝗡𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘 🚀

You may enjoy this form of art in everyday life without knowing what it’s called! 𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲; this space in return creates interesting shapes, and even realistic looking subjects such as faces or everyday objects.

Although a form of art, negative space can be implemented in design; just take our ADA Studio logo for an example! At first you can clearly see the A, but the space surrounding the A reveals something more sinister, 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹! Now that you can’t un-see the pencil, you have truly appreciated negative space. 😉

Therefore, 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴? It’s highly engaging, mind stimulating and fun!

𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀! It requires thought provoking ideation and challenges your comfort zone. Think about it; have you ever had an idea that manifested itself? It starts off with something simple, then you add elements on top to make it ‘𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕’.

It can be difficult to acknowledge, but that’s the process known as creativity! You don’t have to be like Mozart or Olivier Rousteing to be creative; 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀.

It’s almost like a pandemic within a pandemic; the Nintendo Switch has spread game fever worldwide, and it’s finally infected our team at ADA Studio with plenty of fun! But, it's made us wonder, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲? 🤔

🎮 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 & 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀𝗲 - Nintendo implemented a simple strategy here; instead of making a small console for single use, it made the Switch a small console with multiplayer usability! It’s almost like Lego, push and pull a few parts, and you have 3 separate components… no, this isn’t a sponsored post, we just LOVE design!

🎤 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – partially supported by its design features, Nintendo removed the anti-social stigma that’s associated with gamers by encouraging multiplayer usage. This makes the console not only suitable for hardcore gamers, but also family friendly; which instantly widens Nintendo’s market share!

✅ 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – you may find some PC, Xbox or PlayStation games on the Nintendo Switch, which removes some components of an ultra-competitive gaming industry. A perfect example of how your ‘competitors’ can also be your friends.

⏰ 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 – sometimes life just deals its cards; for Nintendo and other gaming companies, Covid-19 has proved the be a great time for sales! Now more than ever, people want to play games, since everyone is stressed out and bored in isolation, games really do provide a temporary escape!

Now, Nintendo didn’t re-invent the wheel here! The brand was smart and knew what their ideal customer would appreciate; which is something 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. For example, if you’re a beauty business that sells creams, it could be as simple as changing your packaging to include a pump to get product out, instead of using a jar.

With the spread of COVID-19 there is a silver lining! Old-school businesses now have to adopt remote working solutions! A big win for employees who don't need to waste petrol money or take public transport anymore; however a big struggle for those employees who just aren't used to working remotely! ⠀

In the worst-case scenario, many businesses have also had to temporarily close; which leaves many with the question, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴? 𝟯) 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 📈 - It’s unfortunate but true, some of your competition may not survive during this pandemic due to financial hardships, leaving you with the opportunity to gain market share so get marketing! Start engaging in on page and off page SEO, hire an affordable agency if you need to and manage your social media or design consistently. Frequent organic engagement is the key to getting your name out there!

Many of our own colleagues who are amazing parents have been doing a wonderful job of managing remote working with home schooling! Therefore, we thought we’d share some of their top tips to cope when working from home with kids ✨:

𝟭) 𝗧𝗮𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺; 👯 if you’re co-parenting, or are raising your children with your partner, then create alternating days with certain responsibilities! For example, home-schooling is monitored by one parent every other day.

𝟮) 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲! 🏢 It’s the trendy thing to do nowadays, so why not create one in your living room? Get your kids computer ready, along with yours, and work together throughout the day! Hey, you can even pretend you’re learning about the curriculum; many of our team members have questioned their multiplication skills during this time.

𝟯) 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀; 🗣️ this will allow you the opportunity to highlight the difficulties you may be facing, and you can even create a plan! Maybe your workday can start earlier so that you can finish earlier, or you can segment the day to focus on work and parenting! All employers should be flexible during this time, it all starts with you speaking up.

𝟰) 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀! 📚 If anyone knows how to tame a room full of energetic children, it’s our hardworking teachers! If you’re struggling with keeping your kid focused, then ask their teacher for some tips and tricks, you may be surprised by the outcome!

𝟱) 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳!🧖‍♀️ A long day of working, parenting and teaching can be exhausting; therefore, finish the day with a nice bath, walk, game or even a fancy drink!

𝟲) 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆... 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗸! 🎨 Not only will this keep them occupied for an extended period of time, but it’ll give them the opportunity to write positive messaging along the walkway, which we love to read! Just make sure they don’t find any permanent markers along the way.

𝗪𝗲’𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗲’𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘄𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 (please excuse our French)! Although it may sound harsh, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲! Therefore, we’ve created a list of bad blogging habits, so you don’t have to write terrible blogs: ❌

𝟭) Stop writing about irrelevant topics; we see this all too much! It’s simple, if you’re a dentist, don’t write a blog about physiotherapy

𝟮) Avoid talking about the same topic over and over again; now there’s no issue highlighting a certain topic here and there, as long as the piece has a different contention. However, if you have a blog going out each month about why your product and service is amazing then you won’t be doing yourself any favours

𝟯) Say no to terrible grammar and writing structure; regardless if you’re a contracted agency, freelancer or internal copywriter, there is absolutely no room for error when it comes to copywriting. At the end of the day, your reader shouldn’t correct your writing! Spelling mistakes accompanied with terrible sentence structure and a lack of paragraphing only reflects sloppiness

𝟰) Reignite your non-existent reading rhythm; reading rhythm truly reflects the tone of the piece. Blogs shouldn’t just be long winded sentences and full stops; instead, incorporate commas, semicolons, exclamation points, question marks and many more punctuation marks! Punctuation marks are there to guide the reader, so use them wisely

𝟱) Forget about word jumbling; writing is a talent, if you can get someone to read your entire piece it means that you’ve resonated with them! In our opinion, there are too many SEO companies stating they’re copywriting experts. Key word jumbling doesn’t tell a story, you could add all your key words over and over again, but it would mean nothing. Sure, be strategic and incorporate key words, but only do it if you are sure your piece can still attract engagement. If you’ve worked so hard to rank, only for people to be disheartened by what they read, you’ve not only wasted your time but your money. 💸
