BISE Rawalpindi has launched an electronic attestation system for private candidates to combat fake attestations.

Chairman Adnan Khan mentioned the move towards automation and urged private students to use the new e-attestation system for online admission forms.

Controller of Examinations Prof Sajid Mahmood Farooqui explained the process for matric first annual examination 2024 private candidates, emphasizing online proofreading, verification from designated institutions, and e-attestation.

Completed forms are submitted along with necessary documents to the board's facilitation centre.

The CDA is gearing up to construct a bus depot at Zero Point as 30 of 160 electric buses are set to arrive from China in January.

The buses, to be operated by NRTC, will cover 13 routes in Islamabad.

The CDA plans to complete the depot construction in six months, following a decision to use government-run construction firms for expedited completion under PPRA rules.

This initiative aligns with former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's directive to enhance public transport in the city.

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has initiated the Rs99 million repair and rehabilitation of the Sixth Road Metro Bus Station, damaged during protests on May 9.

The restoration, set to conclude by December, was delayed, but Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha has now directed completion within 45 days.

The project, funded by the caretaker provincial government, aims to address severe damage, including fire-related destruction.

The repair includes civil works such as door replacement, signboards, glass, and electrical components.

Elevators and escalators will be handled by the masstransit authority.

The metro station has served over 100,000 daily commuters, alleviating difficulties faced since the incident.

The second phase will address partially damaged stations.

As reported by Netizens, a new form of scam has been witnessed on the Sirinagar Highway. Commuters on the road are being informed by a person in another car that they have flat tyre. He targets mostly women and insists that they have a flat even though the naked eye can’t see it. Then he tells the driver that he is poor and needs money. He uses emotion to extract money out of his victims.

30 complaints have been reported so far according to an online source. Each victim has been targeted in a similar fashion.

Everyone is requested to beware of any such incident and immediately report the police if they come across similar encounter.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has directed the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to halt an allegedly unjustified hiring process for non-faculty positions.

The HEC cited a high faculty-to-staff ratio and the university's bleak financial position, emphasizing that ongoing hiring could jeopardize long-term financial sustainability.

Despite concerns raised in meetings, IIUI's spokesperson stated the university follows regulations and hires based on need while expressing unawareness of the HEC letter.

The Punjab Board of Revenue approved Rs2.2 billion for acquiring 5,300 kanals of land for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project.

Payments start from December 5, affecting over 200 structures with Rs500 million allocated for compensation.

Construction began on the 38.3 km road, with 3,692 kanals already acquired.

The total project cost is Rs33.7 billion, including Rs6.7 billion for land acquisition.

Former PM Imran Khan's involvement caused controversy, leading to a new alignment in 2021.

The project's deadline is August 2024, and machinery has been increased for timely completion.

City officials from Rawalpindi and Islamabad met to discuss the alignment of the proposed eastern bypass.

Rawalpindi's Chief Commissioner raised concerns about delays in shifting land records from Rawalpindi to Islamabad.

A committee was formed to address the issue.

The alignment of the eastern bypass needs adjustment due to changes in the starting point of the Rawalpindi Ring Road.

The CDA agreed to study and readjust the alignment, starting it from Banth instead of Radio Pakistan station at Rawat.

The Rawalpindi Ring Road project, 38.3 km long, aims to ease traffic and promote development in the region.

The CDA plans to link Margalla Avenue with Ring Road and construct the eastern bypass to connect both roads.

The proposed eastern bypass, 51 km long, will span both Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with a portion crossing forest land.

The road, featuring six interchanges, is designed to reduce traffic on key routes and contribute to the development of rural areas.

Approved in 2019, the project aligns with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with plans for a special economic zone along the bypass road.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Tuesday announced the ‘Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program’ for the academic year 2024-25.

The Scholarship Programme will allow students from Pakistan and AJK to undertake bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, and PhD programmes at various Hungarian universities.

For bachelor’s and one-tier master’s degrees, the minimum requirement is 12 years of education, whereas, for master’s programme, applicants must have completed 16 years of education.

The program will conduct exams in January and February 2024 to select deserving candidates.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad is conducting studies to address solid waste management, aiming to reduce environmental pollution.

The initiative covers waste characterisation, generation studies, disposal strategies, and a landfill assessment.

Despite facing challenges like land unavailability and legal issues, the CDA plans to implement a system focusing on waste minimisation, reuse, and recycling within a year.

A pilot project for waste segregation was launched last year to promote recycling and reduce pollution.

The Sanitation Directorate and Metropolitan Corporation collect around 700 tonnes of solid waste daily in Islamabad.

The Punjab caretaker government plans to install 350 CCTV cameras in Rawalpindi for Rs10 billion, completing the project within a year.

These cameras will be linked to a control room at the City Police Officer's office, covering key locations like bazaars, mosques, railways stations, and entry points.

The Safe City project aims to enhance law enforcement during religious events and cricket matches, connecting with the traffic management system to enforce rules.

The total cost was reduced from an initial estimate of Rs23 billion, and the control room will serve as a hub for integrated policing and emergency responses.

Similar projects are planned for Murree after Rawalpindi.

On the direction of Chief Commissioner Islamabad and CDA Chairman Anwarul Haq, the local administration has lifted the ban on bike riding on Bhara Kahu bypass.

A few days ago, the chief commissioner had showed concerns over the closure of the Bhara Kahu bypass for motorcyclists and heavy traffic.

Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Aneel Saeed visited the bypass and directed motorcyclists to follow traffic rules while travelling on bypass road.
He also directed the traffic police to ensure all motorcyclists wear helmets.

The bypass project was completed by spending over Rs6.5 billion and officials said the cost will see an increase of over Rs1.5 billion because of the additional work. Currently, a consultant, as a third party validation, is reviewing the additional work and its cost.

The Punjab caretaker government plans to launch 78 electric feeder buses on six new routes next month, connecting Rawalpindi residents to the metro bus service.

The routes, spanning from Saddar to Faizabad, aim to provide hassle-free public transport with a fare of Rs20, exempt for metro cardholders on shorter distances.

Additionally, a new route from Soan Bridge to the Fruit and Vegetable Market in Rawat has been inaugurated, addressing citizens' needs and promoting lower-priced produce.

Future initiatives include connecting Islamabad airport to city areas and expanding the feeder bus network.

The federal education ministry has notified the new syndicate of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) for a three-year term.

The president approved five names, including Dr Ayesha Razzaque, Adnan Asdar Ali, Muneer Kamal, Prof Dr Muhammad Hammad Lakhvi, and Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi The QAU management is awaiting the new syndicate members for an important meeting, where a code of ethics and regulations for student union elections will be presented.

The previous syndicate meeting, attended by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, made significant decisions, including the revival of the student union, pending approval of a code of conduct.

A special team, including police, special branch, and intelligence agencies, is actively pursuing 758 'illegal' Afghan nationals in Rawalpindi.

Since Nov 1, 5,000 immigrants have been left voluntarily, and 65 were deported.

The SSP Operations directed teams to trace and detain these individuals for repatriation.

Overall, 8,728 foreigners left the Rawalpindi division voluntarily, with 234 deportations.

In Rawalpindi district, 5,000 left voluntarily, 65 were deported, and 758 remained untraced.

Efforts are underway to locate and repatriate them, with a holding centre established in Khayaban-i-Sir Syed.

Despite the onset of winter in Rawalpindi, 15 new dengue cases were reported, bringing the total to 2,489 since November 12.

No fatalities were recorded, with 2,438 patients discharged after treatment.

Health teams conducted operations checking over 6,215 houses and 3,205 outdoor spots.

Dengue larvae were found in 191 houses and 36 outdoor spots.

A recent Ipsos survey on Iqbal Day in Pakistan revealed that almost half of the 1,021 participants were unaware of the day's significance.

Among those who knew, 56% were women, and educational levels influenced awareness.

While 35% of matriculates recognized Iqbal Day, the figure rose to 57% for graduates and 72% for postgraduates.

The survey also highlighted that one-third of Pakistanis have a passion for poetry, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leading.

Allama Iqbal was the favourite poet for two-thirds of poetry enthusiasts, mainly women.

Additionally, 76% supported declaring November 9 a public holiday.

Human encroachment, including a surge in grazing animals and tourist traffic, is considered a significant factor.

Efforts to manage the park involve restricting grazing and controlling tourism.

DNA analysis of bear samples aims to understand genetic diversity and the impact of in-breeding on population stagnancy.

Three siblings, aged 2, 6, and 7, were tragically found dead inside a trunk in Shah Khalid Colony.

The parents were away at the market and, upon returning, discovered their children locked inside the trunk.

Despite rescue efforts, the children couldn't be revived.

he cause of death was suffocation. The bodies were taken to Benazir Bhutto Hospital for postmortem.

Authorities are investigating, and a large crowd gathered at the house upon hearing the news.

Ali Raza, who had a second marriage with Iman 18 months ago, was found dead along with his wife.

Ali's brother suspects the murders were carried out by Iman's uncle and brother.

Another two poachers were caught hunting barking deer and pheasants in the protected Margalla Hills National Park.

The ongoing case involves a Chinese national captured for selling a pangolin in sector E-7, with plans for a complaint to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy for deportation.

Pangolins are at risk due to demand in Southeast Asia for their meat, soup, and scales.

Conservation efforts in Pakistan are vital to prevent their extinction.
