You have 120 days from your date of separation to convert your life insurance policy. Meaning any injuries, limitations, or diagnosed conditions, cannot be considered when applying for a commercial policy. However, there are limited companies that participate in this program, so you should access the VA website to view the entire list of options for you. Veteran Life Insurance without proof of good health! SGLI (Servicemember’s Group Life Insurance) can be converted to VGLI (Veteran’s Group Life Insurance) within 1 year and 120 days from the date of separation. However, if you apply within 240 days of separation, you do not need to provide any evidence of good health. In other words, if you have been injured or have a diagnosed physical or mental condition, you can get a life insurance policy that does not take any of those injuries into consideration.This coverage ranges from $10,000 to $500,000.
