Which of your cousins is probably a kidnapper?
But seriously, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, stranger abductions only make up about 1% of cases.
I know this might not seem, like, REASSURING- but I think it’s a good reminder that maybe strangers aren’t quite as scary as they seem 🖤

Cool cool cool cool.
So basically back around the establishment of the US, we had all these folks who were aspiring doctors and scientists robbing graves to get their cadavers to practice on.
Not surprisingly, the underprivileged were often especially likely to have their loved ones taken from the grave. People with more resources could afford to stay with/preserve the bodies of their loved ones until, uhhhh, their bodies were less favorable for “science.”
This became a thing of curiosity, especially for youths peering into the windows as they tried to catch a glimpse of the work being done on the cadavers. One New York man was hard at work one day when he got tired of some teens peeping in on his grotesque research.
In what was likely the very first “your mama” joke, this man took the arm of the woman he was working on and waved it at the boys saying, basically, “This is your mother’s arm I’m working on!”
Suuuupes duuuuupes unfortunately, one of the boys had ACTUALLY recently lost his mother and he rushed home to tell his dad. His dad rushed to the grave to find that she HAD, in fact, been taken by grave robbers. Though…not necessarily the man who made the “joke.”
This created a citywide riot in New York about class and leaving the dead alone and it got VIOLENT. So violent that the mayor of New York jailed medical scientists to keep them safe from the angry crowd. He pleaded with influential voices from the time to beg the people to stop.
All of this led up to
LMAO wait for it wait for it wait for it 🎶
Alexander HAMILTON
standing on the steps of Columbia University, trying to compel the rioters to calm down. This didn’t work, and they stormed into the university medical buildings and smashed medical equipment in the streets.
It didn't end well for rioters when the militia met with them in the streets...
