An Update on Bandcamp Fridays

Great news! Bandcamp, once again, comes through as the most artist friendly platform by 1,000 miles.

"On the first Friday of every month since March, we’ve waived our revenue share to help support the many artists who have seen their livelihoods disrupted by the pandemic. Over the course of these nine days, fans paid artists and labels $40 million dollars, helping cover rents, mortgages, groceries, medications, and much more. KASE, “Alive” is myself on trumpet, John Christensen on acoustic bass, and knowsthetime on turntables and electronics featuring special guests, Tony Barba on woodwinds, Scott Currier on keys and the sublime CRASHprez on raps. We invent textural soundscapes – incorporating live beats, turntablism, electronic elements, and extended improvisations into the music we craft and create spontaneously. References for this project run the gamut from the contemporary mainstream to the avant guard to the classic … mixing jazz & hiphop is like mixing jazz and jazz – different branches of the same tree. That said, we hope to create something new and unexpected with this band and invite you to join us on that journey.

This recording was captured on an icy February night in 2019 at Company Brewing in Riverwest/Milwaukee.
