Bear Lake Campground has 43 first-come, first-served campsites at 9,700 feet. Located in the Bear River Valley of the Routt Natl Forest outside of Yampa Colorado. Campsites are $10 per night. ($20/Double Sites & $30/Triple Site). Fishing in Bear Lake is a short walk from the campground. Yamcolo Reservoir and Stillwater Reservoir are less than 5 miles from Bear Lake Campground. The Flattops Wilderness surrounds the area on three sides and has several hiking trails. Most of the campsites here are spread out and thick trees provide privacy between many sites.

Here are a couple of places to camp in the Pawnee National Grasslands of northeastern Colorado.
Crow Valley Campground has 10 regular campsites plus 3 group sites.
Several dispersed campsites can be found in the area near the Pawnee Buttes.

Deer Lakes Campground is sandwiched between the Powderhorn Wilderness Area and the La Garita Wilderness Area. The Deer Lakes are a series of man-made lakes near campsite #8. Fishing and hiking are the biggest draws to this very scenic campground.

Reuter Campground. Located in the Black Hills National Forest of eastern Wyoming. This campground is about 4 miles from Interstate 90 with paved access to the entrance. Reservations are accepted for sites in the first of the 2 loops.

Dead Swede Campground in Wyoming's Bighorn National Forest. Reservations are accepted for most of the 21 campsites.
Fees are $18 per night.
Several campsites are located along the South Tongue River.

North Tongue Campground has 12 reservable campsites not far from Wyoming's North Tongue River.
Located in the Bighorn National Forest, campsites are $18.50/night.

Sibley Lake Campground is in the Bighorn National Forest of north-central Wyoming. Open from early June to mid-September, this campground has 25 campsites including 14 sites with electric hookups and space for large RVs. Non-motorized boats are allowed on Sibley Lake.

Oh Be Joyful Campground near Crested Butte, Colorado. This BLM campground has been updated in recent years and is the nicest BLM campground we've been to. It is also the only one we've seen that accepts reservations.
$10 per night. AT&T & Verizon have service.

The majority of the sites are walk-in tent sites but there are RV sites too. The steep and rough access road to the campground isn't good for low clearance or long RVs.

The BLM Royal Gorge field office in Cañon City has put together a Camping and Travel Management Plan together that could, in a worst-case scenario, eliminate 2/3rd’s of the dispersed camping in Chaffee County which includes Salida & Buena Vista.

The area around Gothic Campground is beautiful in the fall. 6 campsites are $12/night and there are several dispersed campsites just beyond the campground.

North Rim Campground - Black Canyon National Park
This is one of the more remote national park campgrounds in Colorado. 13 first-come, first-served campsites are available from
mid-April to mid-November.
In addition to national park access fees, Nightly camping fees are $16 in the summer and $8 in the spring and fall when water is turned off.
Max RV length is 22 feet

Ward Lake is located a half-mile behind the Grand Mesa Visitors Center. Campsites are first-come, first-served.

Cell service in the area is weak with Verizon being slightly better than AT&T, which had no service at times.
Ward Lake Campground is open from mid-June to the end of September.

Jumbo Campground - Grand Mesa National Forest.
Reservations are accepted for most of the 26 campsites at Jumbo Campground with electric hookups available in many of the sites.

At an elevation of 9,000 feet in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Westcliffe Colorado lies Alvarado Campground.
Several of the 48 campsites + 4 horse campsites have great views of the Wet Mountains to the east and the valley below.
The Rainbow Trail, Comanche Lake Trail, & Venable Lake Trail can be accessed from the campground.

Superbowl Campground is located in the Indian Creek Unit of Bears Ears National Monument. This BLM campground has easy access to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, which is less than 9 miles to the west. Hiking and rock climbing are also popular activities in the area. Be sure to check out the ancient petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock, which you drive past before reaching Superbowl Campground.

Penitente Canyon is a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) on the western edge of the San Luis Valley in south-central Colorado. Penitente Canyon Campground is a popular destination for climbing, hiking, & mountain biking.

Bureau of Land Management - Colorado

The Gunnison Field Office is now accepting reservations for the Oh Be Joyful Campground, located north of Crested Butte. Campers can make reservations as many as 14 days in advance of their stay.
