Apologies for the radio silence (no pun intended haha :D ) As we draw close to the eve of Cornwall Folk Festival I want to let you know that we are launching Wreckers Radio, the new name for what was Cornwall Folk Radio, and to share the new website where you can listen!
Wreckers Radio is run by musicians for musicians and music lovers and aims to support independent musicians creating, or coming to perform, in Cornwall, the South West and beyond, as well as promoting grassroots music venues.
It is a collaboration between Launceston Folk Club (sponsored by Adept Living Foundation - ALF) and Cornwall Folk Festival and shares the values of these organisations.
We are a very small group of 5 volunteers at the moment, while we have been getting the foundations in place but will very much appreciate support as we progress.
We will be broadening the scope to include all genres of music and appreciate your suggestions for South West based acts creating music across genres, as well as those who are performing in the south west from other parts of the U.K. or globe!
We will be adding programmes, podcasts, and interviews and Roger has started putting the music into themed playlists so that you know what type of music is playing when.
We will be live broadcasting from the FAR stage at Cornwall Folk Festival on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday so do come and see us if you are there! If you are a musician, we would love to do a quick interview with you on the radio.
Our social media channels are brand new so you won’t find much on them yet but activity will be increasing during the festival where you will find out what’s going on, so do follow us and I will put links below.

Hi All,
I just wanted to update you on the progress we are making behind the scenes with Cornwall Folk Radio as I said we'd have some news for you at the beginning of April.

We have been very busy, learning the ropes, handling the tech, planning, and working on developments, so that we can bring you the best radio station we possibly can, with the resources that we currently have!

We have put together a small, yet very able, team, comprised of five very competent people and experts in their fields. In addition to representatives of the two main stakeholders (Cornwall Folk Festival and Launceston Folk Club) we have expertise covering IT and technical wizardry, professional musicians and sound engineering, music management, events organising, entrepreneurship, project management and development, and other amazing and useful skills and talents.

All 5 have extensive networks within different parts of the music industry and local business, and have been very committed and enthusiastic about the project before us.

We are working on re-branding and re-launching the radio station and will consult with you and the wider public about some of this, as we become ready.

As most of us are also musicians ourselves and are involved with music based projects and events around Cornwall, we are acutely aware that there is so much creative talent across the county and the wider South West, and we want to be able to support those who are creating music across many genres in Cornwall, Devon, and the SW by giving them a platform on the radio station to play their music, take part in interviews and podcasts, and have their music and gigs promoted. We also want to be able to support and promote music venues across Cornwall, as we know how tricky things can be at this time, for venues.

We are approaching developments thoughtfully and carefully, and appreciate your patience as we move through this stage. We want to ensure the foundations we put in place are solid and supportive of the growth we have planned.

At the moment, the music on the station is still playing 24/7, so please do continue listening. We will be looking at adding new music over the coming weeks - now that we have some idea of how to do that ! 😆

If you want to draw our attention to any great musicians who are based in Cornwall, (or Devon/SW) or coming to play in Cornwall, then the best way to do that is to tag us into a post, or message us via messenger or email : [email protected] - these musicians may then be invited to send us some music for us to put into the playlist or maybe featured in a podcast or interview.

Please be mindful that the team are all volunteers and have a lot of other responsibilities and obligations, so may not be able to get back to you straight away. We will, however, work through emails and messages as soon as we can.

Thank you :)

PS This is definitely an actual picture of how busy we all are (though we don't wear suits, we are old enough to know what that phone is!) 😁

Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Emma Jaynes and I currently run Launceston Folk Club . Chris Hytch from Annown and I have been in discussions with Russ this week and have taken over the running of Cornwall Folk Radio with immediate effect, in conjunction with Cornwall Folk Festival, with the official handover taking place on the 1st of April 2024.

We are very grateful to both Cornwall Folk Festival and Adrian Jones for their support in making it possible for us to take this forward.

Please bear with us during the transition period over the next few months. Chris and I are both new to radio and have a lot to learn and discover, as well as balancing all of our responsibilities and getting into a 'groove' with it all over the forthcoming months.

However, between ourselves, Cornwall Folk Festival, Adrian, and a host of other fabulous people, we have lots of ideas and thoughts about the future direction and growth of Cornwall Folk Radio.

I want to celebrate Russ who has initiated such an amazing project here, and it is entirely because of the solid foundation and enormous amount of effort he has put into the radio since its inception that swayed us into accepting the challenge! We won't let you down, Russ, and we will all do our utmost to keep it going and develop it into something that will be of benefit to musicians, listeners, our communities, and Cornwall as a whole. Thank you for everything you have done! :)

In the meantime, we welcome input and if anyone wants to get more involved please do let us know and do leave a comment and say hello - it will be good to get to know you over the coming months! :)

The show must go on ..... ;)
