Laminaria contains a whole range of useful substances for humans. One of these substances is alginic acid, an analogue of fruit pectin. Laminaria contains magnesium, fiber, vitamins of many groups, protein, iodine, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese and fucose. The constituents of kelp cleanse the vessels and prevent the development of atherosclerosis. In addition, this plant contains the polysaccharide mannitol, thanks to which toxins are easily removed from the body. Laminaria helps with diseases of the thyroid gland, it owes this to iodine, which it contains in the form of organic compounds. Cholesterol antagonist is another useful substance contained in kelp. It dissolves cholesterol deposits that have settled on the walls of blood vessels, the so-called plaques.
