UZODIMMA WON NOVEMBER 11 OFF-CYCLE ELECTION, OVERWHELMINGLY - OSITA CHIDOKA

SAYS; LP, PDP CANDIDATES WERE NON-COMPETITIVE, ILL-PREPARED

ONWUASOANYA FCC JONES

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka has affirmed that even though, there could be some complaints over the conduct of the 2023 off-cycle governorship election in Imo State, there was no doubt that the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS, won the election in a landslide.

Chidoka who is also the Chancellor of the Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership Development, stated this on Sunday on Channels TV live program hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, the host of Sunday Politics.

While shedding light on critical aspects of off-cycle governorship elections conducted in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi States, Chidoka, a prominent chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party conceded that his Party's candidate in that election and the candidate of the Labour Party were "non-competitive" and ill-prepared for the election and couldn't have won the election. He affirmed the landslide victory of the APC in the election, arguing that the APC practically had no opponent in the election.

Many analysts have credited Governor Uzodimma's victory in the election to his far-reaching goodwill across the width and length of the State, which led to key chieftains of all other political Parties coalescing with him to ensure his sweeping victory in the election.

Reacting to Chidoka's presentation, a prominent public affairs analyst and activist who observed the election, Barrister Ralph Uwakwe said he wasn't surprised with the affirmation of Governor Uzodimma's victory, as it was merited.

"The governor merits the overwhelming victory he recorded in that election. He had earned the trust and support of majority of Imolites and there was a general consensus that he should be reelected, not just from his Party members but from across various political Parties and interests. Imolites are confident that he will do even better in his second term."

PLEASE DON'T QUIT POLITICS; IKEDURU PDP BOOTH LEADERS BEG UNACHUKWU

"YOUR REASONS FOR RESIGNATION ARE GENUINE AND LONG OVER DUE"

"YOU ARE A REAR HONEST POLITICIAN, IN YOU WE HAVE TIED OUR POLITICAL FUTURE"

"PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT WE ALL ARE WITH YOU ANYWHERE, ANY DAY"

An Ikeduru PDP grassroot base structure known as "SABON FOR LIFE" led by Comrd. Moses Nwanyanwu, in early hours of today, Thursday 12th October 2023, besieged the Owerri residence of their leader and benefactor, Sir Bon Unachukwu who recently resigned his membership with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking on behalf of the group members, Comrd. Moses Nwanyanwu informed Hon. Sir Bon Unachukwu that the members held an emergency meeting yesterday, with all the Booth leaders, secretaries and central executive in attendance.

At the meeting, "the Booth leaders were informed that you (Hon. Unachukwu) consulted the central leadership before your resignation from the party".

Comrd. Nwanyanwu then called on the secretary of the group, Mr. Ibe Kachisiridee to read out their resolutions which reads in parts as follows:

1. To visit our Principal, Sir Bon Unachukwu to confirm to him that we have accepted his resignation.

2. Plead on him not to quit party politics for our sake as our political future is tied to his political success.

3. Encourage him to, for our sake, open his doors for other party candidates for November 11th (we can't afford to be watchers in a game we are the best in Ikeduru and have already prepared for.)

4. To invite us in no distance time to inform us on the way forward.

5. Assure him that all the 17 Man PDP Booth executives, the 12 ward election management (He inaugurated) for last February 2023 elections, are willing and ready to quit PDP membership and follow you because of your honesty and Trust.

Responding, the former commissioner and former zonal Chairman of PDP, Hon. Sir Bon Unachukwu thanked the group leaders for their concern and assured them that he will look into their request and communicate back to them or invite them depending the decision of his family.

He informed them that many party leaders, particularly the house of assembly candidate, Barr. John Sunny-Unachukwu have pleaded on him to rescent his resignation "but is not possible now, because the decision to quit PDP is a painful one that caused me six months of sleepless nights (since after PDP Governorship primaries)"

"I don't know how to pretend, I don't know how to promise what my conscience will not allow me do and I can't learn to do that now. The National secretariat of PDP, Abuja contributed 100% in the sorry state of Imo PDP and if we all remain and support the error, it will appear to be right."

"I sincerely thank you all for your continued show of love and support to me, for this visit, I will review my thoughts".

Further inquiries revealed that the group is made up of serving and former Ikeduru PDP LGA executives, ward Chairmen and ward executives.

It was also confirmed by our correspondent that Sir Bon Unachukwu is the leader and face of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON, political structure in Ikeduru and Owerri zone, a group that delivered Sen. Samuel Anyanwu to senate in 2015, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as Governor in 2019 and if as expressed, decides to quit with their leader Sir Bon Unachukwu, will definitely be a disastrous end for the chances of PDP candidate for November 11th in Ikeduru.

PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) IKEDURU LGA

RE: VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE ON IKEDURU LGA PDP CHAIRMAN MR. GEOFFREY IHENTUGE AND VICE CHAIRMAN MR. GODSON OKEREKE

-IKEDURU PDP WARD STATUTORY OFFICERS BACKS THE SUSPENSION OF CHAIRMAN MR. GEOFFREY IHENTUGE AND VICE CHAIRMAN MR. GODSON OKEREKE

-DESCRIBE THEIR SUSPENSION AS LONG OVER DUE AND A STEP TO SAVE THE PARTY

-LGA EXECUTIVE MEMBERS AND WARD CHAIRMEN INSIST THAT MR. IHENTUGE AND MR. OKEREKE REMAINS SUSPENDED

-CALL ON THE NATIONAL SECRETARY TO STAY CLEAR ON THE DECISION OF MAJORITY OF THE EXCOS AND BE ASSURED THAT THE EXECUTIVE LED BY HON. VICTOR NWOSU WILL BE WILLING TO WORK WITH HIM TO DELIVER OUR CANDIDATES IN THE ELECTIONS.

The suspension of Ikeduru PDP Chairman Mr. Geoffrey Ihentuge and Vice Chairman Mr. Godson Okereke have been supported by the ward executives of the party.

In a separate communique released by the ward statutory officers (Vice Chairmen, Secretaries, Women Leaders and Youth Leaders) which reads:

"We the members of our ward Exco (Statutory) hereby in strong terms support and align ourselves individually and collectively on the position of our ward Chairman in rescuing the party (PDP) from impending collapse.

Mr. Geoffrey Ihentuge and Mr. Godson Okereke, Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively remains suspended."

This communique was reached after some unknown names under false designations and impersonation were circulated as leaders of their various wards passing "Explicit Vote of Confidence on Mr. Geoffrey Ihentuge and Mr. Godson Okereke" An action some of the leaders (Chief Chuks Obieche etc) have denied giving consent to.

Ironically, minority seven (7) out of thirty (30) enlarge executive of Ikeduru PDP claim to have suspended Twenty (20) exos who suspended Mr. Ihentuge and Mr. Okereke even when some of them (Prince Richard Onwuegbu etc) have denied knowledge of the suspension notice.

I therefore challenge those behind the purported releases to publish signatures and names as the criminal document replete with names of people who have distanced themselves from the said meeting.

It's worthy of note that Mrs Vivian Osuji is not an executive member of the party, Mr. Abara is not also the ward Chairman of Okwu/Ugiri-ike/Eziama ward neither is Mr. Innocent Iwu the Amakohia ward Chairman.

The Vote of Confidence and Suspension notice on the patriotic 20 LGA executive Members that took studied steps to save the party is characterized with forgery, remains inconsequential and is hereby dismissed.

PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PDP,

IMO STATE

PRESS RELEASE

RE: SOUTHEAST APC BANQUET IN OWERRI:
A DANCE ON THE GRAVES OF OTULU 20

~ UZODINMA HAS SO MUCH BLOOD ON HIS HANDS

The Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State is alarmed , shocked and indeed saddened that while the effect of the cold blooded killing of the innocent youths of Otulu in Oru East Local Government Area continues to reverberate, Senator Hope Uzodinma went ahead with the Southeast APC Banquet held yesterday at the Posh Banquet Hall, Rockview for yesterday, 23rd July, 2022.

It is provocative to see the Governor and few members of the APC from Imo State and the neighbouring Southeast states, partying with exotic wines and champagne, in denial of the realities of the mood of the State.

There are reports that entreaties were made to Governor Uzodinma by critical stakeholders in the state, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ohaneze Youths, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), to cancel the Banquet, but he refused

The I-dont-care, nothing-de-happen attitude of the Governor since the widely condemned, gruesome murder of over 20 innocent youths - his own kinsmen by his Ebubeagu militia has become more glaring that he cares less of 10, 000 innocent lives lost, under his watch, since he broke into the Government House in January, 2020.

Furthermore, Governor Uzodinma's reaction to the alarming insecurity in the state, especially the recent Otulu massacre, confirms his tacit complicity to the reign of terror and blood letting in Imo State.

It is incontrovertible that this governor, has serially refused to welcome and implement wise counsels, strategies and solutions, proffered by the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State and that of other patriotic stakeholders towards addressing the nagging insecurity and collapse of government in Imo State.

While the governor has not only shown deliberate lack of empathy to families of the victims of the massacre, he has deliberately refused to extend solidarity to their families on behalf of the government and people of Imo State.

Ndi Imo cannot wait to see the end of the nightmare the Senator Hope Uzodinma represents.

The People’s Democratic Party continues to grieve with the good people Oru East LGA and Ndi Imo in this time of grief and urge them not to despair.

The the darkest hours are usually just before the dawn. This too shall pass and Ndi Imo shall be happy again.
