The Management of Freetown International Airport (FIA), in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA), has successfully completed a rigorous training program for 65 Aerodrome Fire Fighting Personnel. The training, which was conducted on Friday, March 7, 2025, focused on Basic and Structural Fire Fighting and is in full compliance with SLCAR Part 14A standards.

The goal of the training was to enhance the fire-fighting team's response capabilities, proficiency in equipment use, physical fitness, communication and teamwork, all of which are critical in ensuring the safety of operations at the Aerodrome. The training also meets the requirements of SLCAR Part 14A, ensuring that the fire-fighting personnel are fully equipped to respond to any structural fire incidents within the airport precincts.

The Sierra Leone Democracy Strengthening Programme is a three-and-a-half-year initiative aimed at fostering credible and transparent elections while strengthening political processes post-2023. Originally designed as a two-year intervention to support the 2023 elections and subsequent reforms, the programme was recently extended for an additional 18.5 months by the EU. Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Sierra Leone and its partners concluded a one-day Regional Nutrition-Smart Community Program Symposium on Thursday, 6th March 2024. The symposium held under the theme: “Improving Scalability and Sustainability of Food and Nutrition Security in Africa through Government-Led Policy Reforms,” brought together participants from four African countries: Sierra Leone, Malawi, Burundi and Ethiopia.

The event, hosted at the New Brookfields Hotel in New England Ville, Freetown, focused on the Nutrition-Smart Community Program, a community-driven, multi-sectoral approach to tackling malnutrition. The initiative aims to enhance food and nutrition security, as well as hygiene practices, particularly among children, adolescent girls, breastfeeding mothers and women.
