A boutique production company in Edgartown, MA. We do sports. We do docs. We solve problems and love
Wailerwoo Entertainment was founded 14 years ago by John Wilson as a one-stop provider of creative and broadcast production services. I have spent the past 20 years climbing the broadcast sports production ladder as an independent contractor. From humble beginnings as a runner and production assistant on a variety of sailing shows back in the early 90’s to two Olympics and three America’s Cups, pr
oducing the most recent in 2007 for the Versus Network, I have traveled my way around the sports business, and the world. Along the way I have had the opportunity to not only work for some of the industry heavyweights such as ESPN, NBC Sports, Versus, CBS and CBS College Sports but also some world class production companies that you might not have ever heard of. These include Windfall Productions, Blink Productions, ConCom and NCAA productions. For as much as I have given to each of these organizations I have also taken away the best they have to offer in terms of experiences gained. That experience, and those relationships, is something that I give back to all of my clients. When you partner up with Wailerwoo Entertainment you are gaining a partner with a broad range experience who will ensure that you receive, every day, the best we have to offer.

Island people... Tom and I are back at the Martha's Vineyard Film Society this Wednesday at 7:30 for our Historic Movies of Martha's Vineyard presentation presented by the The Vineyard Gazette. Tickets are still available. We sold out in June and had to turn people away so if you are going buy your tickets early.
We are featuring some of the earliest color film shot in the US which was before color film was available for the consumer market. Our latest piece for the Gazette website features some of that color film.

Great night at the Martha's Vineyard Film Society last night. We packed the house and they had to turn people away. Pretty cool to be able to share our historic films with such a large audience. More to come as the summer progresses. We are working out dates and will let everyone know when the schedule is set.

We are spending the summer working on the island. In addition to the continuation of the Historic Movies of Martha's Vineyard project, with the The Vineyard Gazette, our new project "Previews from the Vineyard's Past" premieres this Friday at the newly renovated Capowock Theater. The Capawock and the Strand, in Oak Bluffs, are being reopened by the Martha's Vineyard Theater Foundation. We did the curtain raiser and are producing a number of vignettes that will be part of the previews.
Pretty cool to be able to stay at home and work this summer.

The film is just 23 minutes, 14 seconds long. It’s silent, black and white and there are moments when the images jump around due to the choppiness of the sea — or of the editing.

Tom Dunlop wrote the book. Literally, he wrote the Chappy Ferry Book. His passion for and knowledge of the ferry is unsurpassed. I have been privileged to call him a lifelong friend and now partner in crime. In today's clip he begins with a short story about Edo Potter, a lifelong Chappy resident an...

Independent Lens on PBS had a great doc on last night. "As Goes Janesville" is a detailed and balanced look at how the closing of the GM plant impacted the community and what people at every level of society did about it. I was only going to watch for a bit but by the end of the hour i wished that there was more. Here's a link...

Jaws and The Chappy Ferry

Jerry Grant owned the Chappy Ferry during tow of the most significant moments in the ferry's history. He had recently bought it when Senator Kennedy drove off the D**e Bridge. At the time there was still only a single, two-car ferry, the On time. By the time Jaws rolled around he had built the On ti...

Steve Ewing is the dock builder on Martha's Vineyard. Chances are if you have stood on a dock in Edgartown, he built or repaired it. He takes care of the ramps for the Chappy Ferry. Back in 1969 he was working as a deckhand on the ferry. He was one of the last people to see Senator Kennedy head over...
