Hi All. Just a reminder about Beyond Radio's Open Mic Fundraiser taking place at the Gregson in Lancaster this Friday 5th July. 9 acts have confirmed their support and there's space for anyone who wants to come along and perform on the night, whether it's poetry, prose, comedy, music, juggling, knife throwing (er.. ok maybe not!) or whatever you'd like to do. Doors open 7.30 for an 8pm start, tickets £3.50 0n the door and there'll be a raffle also. Come and support the return of community radio to Lancaster & Morecambe.

Okay, the time has come for us all to move on. You are invited to join us at 'Beyond Radio' the new community radio project for Lancaster and Morecambe. We are at the very early stages but would welcome you to migrate from the Diversity page, which we can then lay to rest in peace, over to the new Beyond Radio page. Very sad to report that today one of Diversity's popular presenters has passed away. Alison Stott, who had been with the station right from the very beginning, left us this morning after a brief battle with cancer. Alison was a brilliant supporter of the station and was fun to have around. She will be greatly missed. Our love goes out to her family. RIP Alison.

The plan is to bring back Diversity, but under another name, on FM (possibly 'Proper Radio'). Ofcom will open the application process early in 2013 and a few of us are considering the possibilities of submitting an application, given that there is a hefty application fee to find and lots of other requirements, it's a big step. In the meantime we thought we would look at broadcasting via the internet, even this has some financial implications. It would need to follow a similar format to Diversity's broadcasts and have a definate community focus, which will be good ammunition if and when we submit an application to Ofcom as hopefully it will demonstrate a following and a need. If you know of a sponsor or benefactor who might want to support us financially at this time let us know. Or if you fancy donating a few pounds a month towards the process get in touch. Spread the word, comminuity radio in Lancaster & Morecambe could soon be re-born. Will keep you posted.

Power cut knocked out our systems (even though they're just playing music, there's a lot of computers to get powered up again), we're back on-air now though (in a minimal sense of the term)! The joy of remote control.
